He doesn’t need it. He’s above a lot of the inductees. Just adored him. A lot of what he did doesn’t work today but glad he did it. Objectifying women is taboo now and for a good reason. He died too young. Where is his kids. His wife? Any in music?

Thanks for posting this interview- so revealing of Robert Palmer’s quiet charm, intelligence, and subtle sense of humor! Just started discovering his pre-Power Station music. Totally different from his MTV- promoted image. What a soulful and versatile songwriter, singer, and performer!

I remember finding out he was British and getting pissed off. I was jaw dropped when I heard him speak. F that he’s American, I thought to myself. It really doesn’t matter but my subconscious still believes he’s from Cleveland Ohio lol. I still love listening to an entire Palmer album not just the singles. It’s 40 years old but Addicted to Love still fills a dance floor faster than any song.

"how much do you abuse your body?" "compared to other people that I've seen, I treat it very well I think" yeah ok....I could just see the sheer discomfort in his face at having to answer that, knowing damn well he was cutting years off his life with five packs of smokes a day and brandy which he guzzled like tap water
@Fv_Tv747

I actually thought the same exact thing though not to be judgemental but his frequent habbits & addictions possibly/may have led to a heart attack (cause of death) it's just so sad cos he still had many years of incredible music ahead of him, but to drink & smoke so hard-core everyday meant he wasn't in control or happy about something in his life, such habitats are often used as a distraction to numb one self from actual reality, therefore a means to avoid issues in his life, sigh - so sad R. I. P, Robert's death struck me very deeply as he was a powerful influence in my life, gave me strength , passion/compassion & drive 4 life, all this through his amazing music 🙏✨

@@Fv_Tv747 of course it did....along with the drink and smokes, he was clocking in 20hrs a day in the studio when not touring (which was probably destructive in other ways)

@@Fv_Tv747 He was a smoker. That's it. He didn't die of an alcohol-related malady, and drugs tend to not be very destructive unless you catch some bootleg crap.
@Fv_Tv747

@@nicmart Um how do you know if other factors didn't play a part in his death? He had a heart attack & was found in his home days later according to the British press at that time, but then again do we know the full truth of what may have really happened? We weren't there to witness or testify the facts, besides a heart attack can also be caused by excessive stress which could of been caused by personal problems or the sheer amount of pressure of fame, there was also a mention of marriage problems & possible arguments that may have led to or contributed to his demise, so please let's not be so sure of the answers cos we simply don't know the full truth.
@nicmart
Жыл бұрын
@@Fv_Tv747 Occam's razor. He died of a heart attack. It is possible that diet played a part. You may not have heard of the harmful effect of smoking 50 cigs a day over many years, as Robert reportedly did. About 8% of heavy smokers (and 50/day is heavy) die by 54, when Robert died, compared to about 2 percent of non-smokers. (No, smoking doesn't become safer because Keith Richards has beaten the odds.) I have seen no suggestion by anyone with actual knowledge that Robert often used drugs. He certainly liked alcohol, but it unlikely to have caused a heart attack in the absence of smoking. I don't engage in unsubstantiated paranoid gossip. YOU don't know the truth, but the medical examiner stated the truth and there is no reason for a rational person to doubt it. That's a lot of information online about the hazards of smoking.
