No it does not. It was still horrible and a massive disservice to the old shows. They need to stop being trapped in the past and create something new that can stand on its own...what is season 4 going to be the new ultra Cardassians? Going to magically bring Gul Ducat back along with Quark and 5 other characters from old shows trying really hard to cling to relevance? Anything to not create new characters, races and plots because that is just too damn hard today. Have been a Star Trek fan since reruns in the 70s. I've been a Trekkie all my life. In fact - I was born in 1966 - the first season of Star Trek airing. So when people ask me how old I am - I say "I'm exactly as old as Star Trek has been in existence, plus or minus a couple of months. I'll let you do the math!" The original Constitution class - and her refit - and the "A" - were "my" Enterprise. And for the kids who grew up in the 80a and 90s - the Enterprise D and E were yours. (And briefly - the B and C) I wasn't even the biggest fan of the TNG Series Enterprise-D. I mean - I LIKED her. But she just wasn't my favorite. I preferred "my" old Enterprise - or the "E" (which I thought updated the older style and proportions better) And yet... and yet... Seeing her return here... When those lights hit her hull... well... Data speaks for me. So listen up! All you younger fans! And those yet to come! The Enterprise - ANY Enterprise! - is as much a character as her crew. She's home. She's a faithful companion. She'll sacrifice for her crew and they'll sacrifice for her. She'll do more than any ship her class was ever designed to do. Miracles and miracle workers walk her decks and tend her engines. Captains of legend command her. Pilots and navigators of renown helm her and she'll fight hard and fly rings around her foes at their call. Madmen and gods of spirit and chrome will be stymied by her and her gallant crew. You'll boldly go and she'll take you there. You'll treat her like a lady and she'll always bring you home. And if the last measure of devotion needs to be laid down, she'll do that too. And another will rise in her place like a Phoenix and carry the legend forward! History will never forget the name - ENTERPRISE!!!

As a 90ies kid, I also had the Voyager. DS9 was never my cup of tea. It already had the taste of "step backwards". A continuous plot you could not follow, if you miss to many episodes, no tech innovation driving it, not driven by hope how things could be in the future... Appreciated it much later, when I could binge-watch it, but it is not the same. Having *your* Enterprise (or Voyager) as a personal space with people you can be sure would not treat you like your environment does... painting a bright future in contrast to the present without "overwoke" it by force... peeking into technical progress, that is likely to be possible... that's unique! Eh...it is and it isn't. Salvaging the saucer to prevent cultural contamination makes perfect sense (even though Veridian IV's civilization was nowhere near spaceflight, per Data's comment), but Picard explicitly said she'd never fly again at the end of the film. It creates a bunch of questions that no one is gonna wanna answer. I'm not unhappy to see it again, but this made me facepalm a little.

I am o glad they gave the old girl a proper return and send off. The last Enterprise Gene Roddenberry would help with design. Geordi, Scotty would be so proud of you. Thank you Terry M.

There's actually a fan short that was released a couple of days after "Picard" ended that shows Starfleet beginning to move the saucer off of Veridian III (?) after the end of "Generations." It even had a "guest" appearance by the late Leonard Nimoy's Spock retrieving Kirk's insignia badge. It may or may not be up; even though the company who did it was collaborating with Paramount for the Roddenberry Archives, I think they forced them to take it down because Paramount hates when someone does "Star Trek" better than they do. It's called "765874 - Regeneration."

For whatever reason, stream / broadcast was downgraded to 1080p from how it was shot in 4K (same with 'Discovery') - even though 'Strange New Worlds' gets sent out intact at 4K, so I'm not sure what Paramount-CBS is thinking... though it may simply be vanity on the TNG cast's part: 4K really shows those wrinkles and age spots I've simply restored the video to 4K (I think the CGI is rendered at 2K, so it gets embiggened a little)

@@DirtyHunter3 Maybe not an entire season but certainly there would be enough material there for a good story. I could see another "old friend" who is an Admiral senior to Jean Luc stepping up or being asked to step in as Commander Starfleet either from retirement or from a billet at the Academy or at HQ ... Janeway perhaps, wanting to rebuild a shattered Starfleet, taking shameless advantage of Picard and his crew as legends to provide leadership, and Enterprise D as the Flagship providing a core to build or rebuild the fleet around. I don't recall if Enterprise F survived her duel with Spacedock, I'm thinking that because she was already tired and worn out she was either destroyed or so badly damaged that she would be beyond repair short of the complete rebuild the older Enterprise D received.
