Audio took me back to mid 1960’s in Phoenix on Thursday evenings (and then Fridays) which is pretty much how our TV sounded. Visually though, our TV did not have anything close to this resolution. This is digitally “remastered” quite impressively.

Spock I always imagine as a tea drinker. Some sort of Vulcan sencha or matcha would be his preference.

I agree that tea would be his preference. And matcha & sencha are both good varieties. He might like Hojicha too. But I notice He rarely is seen eating or drinking, even when others are. I suspect Vulcans believe in sitting down at a table for mealtimes, etc-not eating on the go like humans do! And He'd NEVER have a beverage anywhere near his work station (although they don't look as at risk if spills as our current day technology is).

@@suzanneroberge494 Great observations and insight! I like Hojicha myself, have it currently stocked along with gyokuro. Yes, there is something to be said for sage, philosophical and introspective types not being depicted indulging in food and drink. Notice that in the highly regarded episode “City on the Edge of Forever” Kirk retrieves “a few assorted vegetables” to meet his dietary needs. Also, in “By Any Other Name”, while other ship officers are sitting down to a meal with reconstituted food, Spock I noticed had but a small bowl in front of him. In many ways, his ascetic existence is reminiscent of what audiences later witness with Kwai Chang Caine in “Kung Fu”.

The Vulcans are heavily depicted as having very Japanese/Asian sensibilities. Spock did eat/drink lightly in the Enterprise Incident to, and shock of all shocks drank alcohol (brandy) in Requiem for Methuselah. But I don't remember much else. Gyokuro is new to me. Have never tried it. My daughter is the Japanophile who has taught me what little I know. I may ask her to look for that tea for us to try. Peace & long life, I've enjoyed this chat.

First of two times that McCoy says “Mathematically perfect brainwaves…” he would say this again about Spock in “Requiem for Methuselah”.

Because Picard always likes to listen to his pious voice bark out to a a replicator. (“Tea. Earl Grey. Hot”.)
