At that brief moment, Anakin was filled with hate and anger long enough to be immersed in the dark side hence why his eyes were yellow and red. Once he calmed down, his eyes changed back and he disconnected from the dark side. He was sent there by Palpatine to kill the Separatists as they were not useful anymore and Anakin took the opportunity to get revenge on them for their numerous assassination attempts to kill his Mrs Padme.

This is easily my favorite scene in the whole movie. So much rage and anger is conveyed in Vader's movements, as he strikes what are merely politicians playing at war. They now finally get what they signed up for. But for me, the best part is afterwards. Vader isn't basking in his glory, he's not proud of his actions. He's in emotional anguish. He's made an irredeemable mistake that can't be undone. And all he can do is watch the eclipse, symbolizing his total fall into darkness, and weep.

Maybe my perspective has shifted due to the recent trilogy of mistakes, but you gotta admire the tactics of Palpatine here. Creates the separatist faction to spark conflict through the galaxy, orchestrates the production of the necessary force to counter such a threat. Takes command of the senate, making him the ruler of one side of the war. Eliminates all opposition, Jedi who seek true justice and freedom (are meant to at least) and the separatists who want power for themselves, creating a power vacuum only he can fill. By the end he appears to be the savior that ended the war, rallying the support of the galaxy and gaining the power to enforce his rule and crush any form of resistance...at least for a time. This right here is the original red wedding.

2:15 is good attention to detail. Notice how Anakin sheds a tear? This shows he has actually deep down regretted for what he did and knows there is no going back from it when he killed younglings and other innocent lives. This symbolises there is indeed good in him as Padme and Luke say.

I love the scene at 2:02 with Anakin on the balcony, and how much it resembles the scene in Return of the Jedi where he is alone on the Endor walkway. One scene has Anakin reckoning with all he's done after trying to save someone he loves but loses himself in the process, and the other has Anakin reckoning with all he's done to rediscover the person he once was that would give everything to save his loved ones.

This was Anakins reward. He helped Sidious against Mace Windu out of desperation. And leading the assault on the temple was a test to see if Anakin could truly become the Sith Lord Sidious' needed to rule by his side. Slaughtering the Separatist leadership was his reward for following through. The source in Anakins eyes for not only Padme's assassination attempts, but the following three years worth of death, destruction and emotional turmoil on the galaxy. No challenge. No equal fight. When I saw this movie I was 6 years old, I loved anakin in the last 2 films, I liked the movie because of the action and visuals as a kid and saw anakin as a hero. When I saw revenge of the sith in 2005 I was so confused at why a hero falls to the dark, I mean heroes are supposed to always be good, help, save, protect, my little mind could not comprehend the sadness and powerfull message this film gives. He who gets owned by fear of losing someone is bound to do anything to save that person even if it means sacrificing your image as the hero I always saw to be Anakin Skywalker, this movie as a kid confused me, but as an adult it broke me because, there is a time in your life where you have lost people who you love in life and this feeling of vullerability and fear towards that is scary, its human and thats why I think this is the best Star Wars Film ever.
