I'll never get over the part where Padme "lost the will to live." That's one of the most bullshit excuses for a death I've ever seen put to film. It doesn't even make sense because after having just given birth, she should've wanted to live more than ever. A mother wanting to watch over and protect her children can be one of the strongest, most motivating forces in the world.
@michaelsinger4638

It's also really insulting to her character, well this movie as a whole is insulting to her character. They could have just said that the internal injuries from Anakin Force-choking her, combined with the rigors of childbirth, combined were too much for her body to handle. But no, that wouldn't be "tragic enough" in old Georgie's mind.
@ProJatior
7 жыл бұрын
I tend to buy that something else was going on with her death that we don't see. I take it was a supernatural thing more than anything. I enjoy this movie enough to accept that the droids actually say they don't know why (she's dying) so the best answer they can give is that she lost the will to live. If you look at her when giving birth it looks more like she's trying to hold on. I buy the theory that her life force was siphoned to keep Anakin alive. With all the fans complaining that the Force was demystified they can't consider something like this? I don't understand the fans.

I'm no prequel defender, but we see other droids looking like C-3PO and when Owen saw him the first time he wasn't golden and maybe just forgot him. As for Obi-Wan, I always assumed he simply lied to Luke. If he responded "Oh yeah, I know that droid we fought together and I changed by name ever since I took you on this planet as a baby" Luke would start asking too many questions. Obi-Wan "lied" about Darth Vader anyway so... My main problem is Leia remembering her mum's face even though she was fucking newborn.

DeepEye1994 Well, the one thing I can say about Obi-Wan’s line - “I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid.” - is that, technically, he didn’t. R4 and any other droids he might have used were likely assigned to him by the Jedi Council, while R2 went from being property of the Naboo royalty to belonging to Anakin, before being turned over to Captain Antilles along with C3PO. So, what he told Luke was true. From a certain point of view. ;)

12:41 - something that I JUST noticed about Grievous that actually explains away some of the plotholes with him being able to survive in space. Take a careful look at that shot. The heart isn't just "hanging" there. It's actually encased in a kind of "sack" or container; an artificial abdomen as it were that's filled with liquid, keeping the organ protected and intact, as well as preventing it from jostling around. You have to look carefully but you can see the outline of the sack as well as notice how the fluid is slightly green in color - and the fact that blood vessels and other parts of Grievous' body seem to attach to nothing surrounding the space, indicating that a pod is there.

The movie is officially 15 years old!!! I didn’t become an official Star Wars fan until this one came out The other ones I watched on vhs and didn’t understand the fascination with this franchise Then with Revenge of the Sith I got it Made me appreciate what George Lucas started all the way back in 1977 2005 was the year of Star Wars for me collecting merchandise; video games, posters, figures, magazines, soundtracks, posters etc. this is still my favorite installment next to episode 7 and 9 Plus it sets up the original trilogy Yes the acting is bad and the dialogue even the romance is awful But Lucas finally got to tell how everything came to be with the Empire Rising, how the Jedi order fell, Anakins turn to the dark side and what became of Luke & Leia The visuals are stimulating, the music is still so majestic by John Williams, this has the best action in the series, and while not perfect I felt like they managed to tie up a lot of the loose ends filling in a complete circle of storytelling

8:02 Yoda is a borderline nihilist and he illustrates the hypocrisy of the Jedi philosophy. His advise isn't so much "deal with it," but more like "learn to accept that everyone is an expendable commodity." Not that Palpatine's philosophy is any better. He illustrates the hypocrisy of the Sith philosophy because the Sith code makes it sound like their ideals emphasize individual liberty when, in practice, they do the exact opposite. The Sith are the left-hand path. The Jedi are the right-hand path. And both of them are malarkey. 10:43 You're not gonna mention that that's Bruce Spence of Mad Max/Matrix fame? 18:49 That's one edge the Sith have over the Jedi, philosophically speaking. 21:30 You're not gonna mention that being an homage to Frankenstein's monster?

Padme’s death was not well established or explained UNLESS Palpatine siphoned her life force to power Anakin’s why he was undergoing an obviously agonizing and dangerous procedure to save his life. Palpatine is very manipulative and for all we know HE sent the vision of her dying to Anakin. He is definitely powerful enough because he knew she was his weakness. If this was the route it would not only make her death make sense, but so tragic and upsetting

his fall is more nuanced than you give it credit for, decker. look at it from his point of view: anakin was a young slave boy, taking from his mother and inducted into a order of warrior monks who's whole philosophy is not having attachments because attachments lead to the darkside. normally, padawans are found and start their training when they are around 5-7. anakin was 9 when he started and still missed his mother. he then gets trained by a master who wasn't ready to be a master himself and never seem to respect him (look at a lot of scenes between anakin and obi-wan in AOTC.). the reason why anakin sounded like a whiny teenager in the second movie was because he WAS a whiny teenager: emotional, hot-headed, and ready to jump into situations. but he was always told that such emotions weren't right and he had to bottle them up and ignore them. fast foward to his mother dying in his arms and all of that anger and hate exploded out in him killing the sand people. padme was literally the only person he could talk to about these feelings. thus, with a handful of the sand he hates, he swore to never let anyone close to him die again. now in this movie, anakin is a veteran war hero who fought on the front lines of a galactic civil war, seeing friends and comrades die for 3 years. then he finds out his wife is pregnant, which put more stress on him. then he starts having visions of her dying and he wants to find a way to save her. then he's being pulled in two directions, between the jedi and palps. then he;s told that he can sit on the council but not be a master, by the one person who doesn't like him, mace windu. then he finds out his friend and mentor is a sith. he could've killed him right then and there but nope. despite being disrespected by the council, he still wants to follow the code. now this part, a lot of people miss but it's masterful storytelling. when palps tells anakin to kill dooku, anakin hesitates, despite how much he wants to end him, saying it's not the way of the jedi. he finally does it but afterwards, he feels shame for what he did. but what does palps say after that? "he was too dangerous to be left alive." cut to the fight between mace and palps. mace has him dead to right and anakin says to take him alive because its the jedi code. mace's answer? "he's too dangerous to be left alive." mace windu, one of the most revered and powerful masters in the galaxy, a master on the jedi council, the paragon of the jedi code, and the very person who told anakin wasn't worthy to be a master...........threw the code out of the window. for anakin, that hypocrisy was the last straw and he made his choice. afterward, anakin is emotionally drained. everything he had been feeling and holding in that moment was out and he was in a situation that there was no turning back from. and palps turned him in that moment, taking advantage of the one good thing anakin has left in his life: his wife and children. looking back at the prequels, they aren't perfect but they tell a tragic tale. and like all tragedies, it could've easily been avoid had only a few things been different. the jedi failed anakin and thus, they failed themselves and the galaxy for decades.

I have watched this review now 4 or 5 Times, and the actual Movie also 3 to 4 Times, and only NOW it occours to me, that Padme being still on Anakins side when she arrives on Mustafar, makes all the "Dark Padme" Fanart on the Interwebs so MUCH more realistic

Yeah now with the whole Asokah thing the not giving Anikin the rank of master is kinda oddd. But again no one had made up asokah yet. This is why as fun as it maybe I'm kinda against adding stuff that you can't go or won't go back on to explane later. For instance She's not even brought up in passing in this film.

General Grievous coughing, goes back to the Clone Wars animated series when Mace Windu used "Force Crush " on Grievous' chest plate when he was escaping after kidnapping Palpatine , during the Battle of Corusant. Grievous had the cough from then on.

LOL, I saw what you did there, adding in that line from Austin Powers "The Spy that Shagged Me" from Will Ferrell's character; "I'm alright, just...very badly burned." I am shocked you didn't obliterate George Lucas on his severe lack of written dialogue skills. After all, he was using his "Super-Take" concept on these films. Where by he films the same scene multiple times over using different tones and having the editor piece together the best possible take. So consider if you will....*THIS* was a super-take: "Anakin Skywalker: You are so... beautiful. Padmé: It's only because I'm so in love. Anakin Skywalker: No, it's because I'm so in love with you. Padmé: So love has blinded you? Anakin Skywalker: [laughs] Well, that's not exactly what I meant. Padmé: But it's probably true." The most cringe worthy dialogue ever written, acted as equally cringe-worthy.

I thought "ray shields" were established in the original trilogy as energy shields that blocked ray attacks. What Grievous activated is a force field.

I know the prequels get a bad rap but this is my 3rd favourite Star wars movie. I really enjoyed it (obvious flaws not with standing)
@BlakeTheGamblingHero

well the reason some of this is left out is because of a 2 part animated miniseries to show what happens between each of the prequel movies, between 1-2, and 2-3, which shows the training of general grevious, his monstrous rampage on courisant killing 3 highly trained Jedi's and the reason of his saber collection. and in the first the training Skywalker went through.

Technically George said Jedi are aloud to have sex, they're just not aloud to pursue a relationship or have kids.

No your still wrong. They can have kids technically. Shit Ki Andi Mundi had like 7 wives and like 5 kids I think. However he like all Jedi had no "attachment" to them That's what the Jedi forbid. Relationships/attachments. By all accounts hiting it and quiting it are totally acceptable

revenge for what? are you kidding me, how about that genocide that the jedi did to the sith homeworld, or the basically a witch-hunt that the jedi did to cause the first Jedi civil war and the subsequent banishment of Ajunta Paul and his fellow jedi into unknown space leading to the establishment of a new sith order. I have more examples but I think ive made my point.

@Tom Ffrench right, how does "the Force balances its users out" fit with Luke's battle with Vader in Empire? Or Yoda's Force lightning strike in Last Jedi? If the Force really DID work as Jonson wrote it Luke would have easily beaten Vader instead of getting his ass kicked up and down Cloud City in Empire. And if Force ghosts could summon bolts of lightning Obi Wan would have been able to flash fry Vader and Palpatine after the former struck him down in New Hope. And as far as his other works go they're far to generic to pique my interests.

At a convention , The Movie review panel started with our host saying that Revenge was the best film since Empire and more then made up for any flaws in the first two movies in the Prequels trilogy. A young girl who was in the front row , walk up to the host and put her hand on his head, look back and said "no he does not have a fever". Then the room went crazy as the arguments began.

Episode 7 fucking angered me in theaters. When Kyle Ren killed Han Solo, I fucking screamed. I knew something was off when it said Disney’s Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. It was a fucking cash in. I will enjoy the original 3, which have way better effects in my opinion and were not made to just make money.

How did the lightsabers give off shadows on the floor? I never understood that. See lightsabers are not physical objects. The plastic sticks however are physical object and that is why they appear on the floor. Could they not edit out the distracting shadows given off from blades of light, plasma lasers?

15:20 It's rather funny how people want Vader to be the most hardcore, bad-@$$ psycho in the galaxy, and yet him crying out 'No' at the end negates the fact that he murdered children. Though whenever I see that scene, I can still hear my ex-gf at the time it came out, whispering to me: "...he kills the children!?"

In the expanded lore it says Grievous use to be a reptile like alien, and most of his body was destroyed by the sith (but they said it was the Jedi) so they gave him a cool robot suit and only stuffed the important bits in there (brain, heart, lungs, eyes) and his lungs were burned hella bad so he coughs a lot

here's an interesting bit of storytelling. anakin and obi-wan have a talk before he heads off to confront grievous. anakin admits that he wasn't the best apprentice but still respect obi-wan for his guidance. obi-wan says that anakin has grown into a fine jedi and friend. then, as obi-wan is leaving, they say their good-byes, with obi-wan in the light and anakin hidden by shadows. that is the last time obi-wan would talk to anakin skywalker, for the next time they met, he was facing darth vader.
