I will never, NEVER forget how impressive that first level felt to me back in the day. It was like really living in SW universe. It captured the original trilogy perfectly, especially with the scale of enviroment and soundscape.

One thing Jedi Knight had over it's contemporaries was a game engine that could do wider, bigger, taller areas. It wasn't until Unreal that another game engine managed to have levels this large. That first level really exploited that. The scope was so big.

I bought this game in 1997; still playing it in 2024. Great video mate

I still have all dark forces series bought at that time. From the first to the last game complete with their boxes. From a time that Lucasarts was a superb company.

This game had great optimalization. Even in software mode it was playable on my poor Pentium100, 24MB RAM, SVGA 1MB.

I still own a 3DFx Voodoo II I believe? It's in the box in my closet, need to see what version it is, but had it around this time and still own a box PC copy of this classic! Nice upload of this :)

It's amazing how games haven't improved all that much in 27 years.

Just once I wish I could play the entire 3dfx-accelerated library before I turn 60.

You can if you play a couple minutes of each game, or just not play the trash games at all.

I have Jedi Knight installed, I have added the -displayconfig to the shortcut, and there's still no "Advanced" option on the video config. I wanted to try a Glide wrapper as whatever it defaults to (Direct3D?) when you enable 3D acceleration results in a jumbled up mess that's unplayable.

OK, I'm not sure why it matters, but I just tried running it from a command line, rather than using the shortcut, and the Advanced menu showed up. No option to use Glide/3DFX though. I copied the wrapper DLL files into the game directory, but it doesn't seem to detect them. It's worked fine for other games like Need For Speed 2. When I asked about this on a forum several years ago, i was told that Jedi Knight doesn't support 3DFX.
