Run by a CEO who is either unable perform his duties correctly, as he should have known about the allegations of sexual harassment in his company, and as such, should be fired OR he knew what was going on and intentionally chose not to take any actions, in which case he should be fired. Until Yves Guillemot leave Ubisoft, Ubisoft will not get a penny out of me. And, honestly, I don't think I've missed out on much by ignoring Ubisoft titles for the last 2+ years.

No, not true. Crew is a different type of game from Outlaws. Outlaws will go the same route as Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Breakpoint. Ubisoft will sell it for a few years then put it on Steam too. I own Wildlands and Breakpoint (it's now good), both purchased for under AU$20. Anyway, this is what will happen to Outlaws.

Blizzard was left out of the dirty devs list. While they have their own EXTENSIVE list in the last 10 years alone, the next expansion has a "hero edition" solely for the 3 days early access they're trying to play off as for the people who are adulting and cant no life it. Its a shallow fomo cash grab. As for Ubisoft, the internet requirement is a red flag in itself especially after the whole 'you dont own what you pay for' bullshit from the CEO. Not to mention after they tried to remove content people paid for from Black Flag. It will likely be a long wait for it to be cracked, but at least you'd own a copy that runs better and have content you paid for removed.

I don’t think I’ve spent more than $10 on a Ubisoft game, and that was years ago at this point. Everything they’ve made since SC: Blacklist and R6: Siege has been forgettable, and I can’t imagine this will be any better. Honestly though, selling people on avoiding spoilers is the biggest scummy practice here. At least nowadays one can watch streams during the “Early Access” period to see the game in action and unfiltered. It will unfortunately sell though and Ubisoft will keep doing it.

While the pricing for this game is gross, I think focus on the strange internet requirement for the physical console versions of the game also deserve attention. I find it idiotic (even by Ubisoft standards) that a single player game needs an internet connection in order to be installed on a console for a physical copy of said game. Its stuff like this is why I refer to Ubisoft as "French EA".

Yeah, hell no I'm not paying that much. Not even paying full price for the base game, seeing as how it's just another assassin's creed re-skin with lasers added. Disagree hard with your opinion of the most economical process being the subscription. The subscription is a non-refundable option (I went through this shit after their rocksmith + sub was provably cancelled, auto-renewed and after a week of back and forth and emails to ACCC and other consumer protection bodies in Australia, it was “tough shit, it’s in the tos”. No, the single most effective process is to purchase a physical edition, play it for the return period (if you have one, EB Games in AU is my go to Test Game Before Purchase retailer) and return it. Return rates are reported to the vendor and the publisher and retailers get really pissy about high return rate items, usually shipping back a percentage of stock and getting a refund themselves.

The problem with Ubisoft (and specificially them) is that they take considerably longer to lower their prices - if they do it at all. That said, they always have insane prices and bundles (for what is just iterative games; their newer of which (typically) runs on their horrible in-house engines that they used for Ghost Recon: Wildlands (and more. I can see the game in Sid's video uses it just at a glance, and it's likely going to feel stiff - especially since it has no realistic physics)). Their Far Cry games feel a lot better (ever since FC3), but pricing is the same as above. Not only that: They've proven that they will shut down entire games (I believe "The Crew" was covered by Sid), or part of them (no more co-operative multiplayer in Splinter Cell: Blacklist), or remove games outright, like with the original Assassin's Creed 3 - forcibly replacing it with the Remastered version (which is different in some ways, and not all of them good). Seems like a good deal though, right: original for Remastered? Well, except the original had a mission DLC that is _not_ included in the Remaster. Ubisofts response? Basically "tough luck". They can do this because of the licensing agreement; just like Steam could erase your entire account with games and all and not give you anything. We own nothing. Virtually no rights; except to play the games while they're still there. That absolutely MUST change.

I wouldn’t even pay 70 for base game! *And I don’t even buy games like that!* (I did buy Fallout 3 GOTY edition on Steam this week, but that’s besides the point) If I really wanted to pay money for a “season pass”, I’d go for Fortnite because… A. It’s free. B. Their BS is actually fun- the events are like old school game releases in themselves on the social media side. And C. I can say I’d get a lot more fun from playing that WITHOUT lobotomizing my wallet. And even if I wanted to play it, I’d probably wait for KZitem videos to come out because you can’t trust them for shit these days.

I still remember vividly, something like 10-15 years ago, when the first "day-1 DLC's" started appearing, how it caused quite a controversy, especially when it was attached to full-priced triple-A games: People felt that they weren't getting all the content even though they were paying full price, and that they would need to pay even more to get the entire game rather than just part of it. Nowadays "day-1 DLC" has become pretty much the norm, and nobody bats an eye at it anymore. Which is, of course, precisely what the big game studios wanted. To normalize the practice. And they were quite successful.

Ubisoft has been on my "do not buy" list from day one. For me, this is a non issue because I've never bought any of their products and never will. Bohemia and Blizzard are the other companies on that list. EA....well as bad as EA is, they don't force performance killing rootkit DRM onto my PC like Ubisoft. EA doesn't force me to agree to their terms of service and instantly lock me out of my account if I don't agree, while continuing to bill me, without access to my account to cancel my services like Blizzard. EA doesn't force me to use an anti cheat so bad that games being protected by it are the most hacked games in the world. EA also doesn't try to force me to shut down my antivirus so that the only thing protecting me from these hackers is the most ineffective anti cheat software available. So yeah...EA, not the worst gaming company in the world these days. They're certainly far from saints, but the industry is leap frogging them one company at a time.
