The Mandalorians came from a progenitor race called the Taung. The Taung used several other races as slaves. One could be elevated in position by following the Taung warrior code. Eventually the Taung species died out, but their code was kept alive by the collection of former slaves that followed it. The slaves settled on the planet Mandalore, and became the Mandalorians. The Mandalorians fought against the Republic in many wars. They continued the tradition of allowing anyone to be Mandalorian, as long as they followed the code. By the time of the Prequels, there were three competing Mandalorian groups. The pacifist New Mandalorians, the mercenaries with a code True Mandalorians, and the extremist group Death Watch. Death Watch sent false information to the Jedi, that led to the Jedi coming in and killing all of the True Mandalorians. Except for one, the adopted son of Mandalore Jaster Mereel, Jango Fett. The New Mandalorians had the support of the Jedi, so Death Watch went into hiding. It was this Civil War that led to Mandalore becoming a desert. Though some sources say that it was caused by the Jedi and the Republic during one of the ancient wars. I could continue, but that would meaning spoiling later Clone Wars and Rebels episodes.

This is not anything too big, but Captain Rex is part of the main cast. It's not The Clone Wars Trio, Anakin, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka. But The Clone Wars Gang, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka and Rex. Rex is usually in the background tho, so I understand if you don't see him as a main cast member. That being said, I feel like Captain Rex is the narrator of The Clone Wars. He is in almost every episode, even if he doesn't do much, he is still there, much like R2-D2 in the movies

I see it frequently mentioned that Clone Wars Anakin retcons movie Anakin but I don't think that's the case. I often see people only focus on Anakin as he is in Attack Of The Clones and the end of Revenge Of The Sith but what they don't bring up is Anakin as he is at the beginning of Revenge: he's heroic, level-headed, and just seems like an all-around good guy and I think that, rather than retcon, Clone Wars Anakin is an expansion of how he is at the beginning of said movie.

Hey bro I know it's been a while since you did you're mainframe entertainment series but there's another early 2000s show that's pretty well animated, very story driven, and uses the same stable of actors from Mainframe's other projects. It's called Hotwheels Acceleracers. It's a 4 part movie series (5 if you count world race which came out prior, uses a different animation style, and isn't as in depth story wise). It's about street racers who have to race against robots in race tracks that take place in other dimensions. Much hit has similar humor and tone to the 2nd season of Beast Wars. Didn't know they were made by the same company as a kid but all the connections make sense. I'd check it out, it's cool.

So with Mandalorians, its kinda of two issues. Part of it is George Lucas wanted to revise some of the established stuff from all the books and games, and the other half is that Mandolorians in Star Wars are kinda like.. They've been built up as this incredibly pain-in-the-ass warrior race/culture through an excess of media that only really deep fans have bothered to go into ALL of it. Its established in old canon and new canon again that Mandalorians are both an ancient race and a sect of humans who donned those original Mandalorians ways and ultimately are now the primary and only living practitioners of old Mando culture on the planet and thats *mostly* the same in the rest of the galaxy. So both are correct more or less. You can be Mando by Blood and Birthright (being born on the planet, having a "mandolorian" lineage by family), or adopt Mandolorian culture at any age. Before The Mandalorian, I recall this actually being explained in The Old Republic MMO by one of the Smuggler Class's crew-members you can recruit, a Davrak( Darth Mauls species) Female named Akaavi Spar. And more of this will be covered in the coming seasons as well. Death Watch and Mandalore has a bigger presence in all of the new shows.

Cad Bane doesn't really go through any sort've character development. He's pretty much a cold blooded S.O.B. from beginning to end. In Season 7 there was supposed to be a multi parter where Bane mentors Boba Fett. Not for altruistic reasons. Back when Jango was still kicking he & Cad were rivals, striving to prove who was top mercenary. After Fett's death Bane was bummed their competition got cut short. He sees Boba as the closest he'll ever get to the original, wrapping up the young clone's training so he's just as potent as his old man. Ultimately the two have a falling out, concluding with a gunslinger showdown Bane loses (also meant to explain how Fett got those dents on his helmet). Not sure yet if this storyline made it into S7's 12 episode run. Hopefully.

i have to agree on the romance part and especially the palastine point. i wouldn't call star wars a kids show overall, but the early seasons did give that effort off as the writing was still getting its grips on what TCW truly was. so with palastine, he was definitely supposed to be the "easy to spot villain" for children at the time, but going forward, TCW took itself more and more seriously to the point where it's hard to place it in "a kid's show" hemisphere or the "this is fully adult" hemisphere, which is one of the pretty incredible things the show achived before and after cancellation.

Could it be that being a Mandalorian started as a race of warriors whose people eventually faded away but their ideals lived on in this form of a creed? Just a theory! I'm re-watching the Clone Wars myself right now because I don't remember most of it. So, chances are high that I'm wrong. Damn. Until the end of Season 1 I thought this series is so boring. You know where everyone ends up with the movies and they aren't really exploring the characters at all on top of the episodes being pretty much self contained stories with nothing at stake in the grand sceme of things. But Season 2. They ramped things up quite a bit. Episode 7 and 8 really went out there, while the season, as a whole, went exploring the galaxy that is Star Wars, not giving us dragged out plot points from the movies. I got serious Dead Space vibes there at times. Anakin Force choking the creature during interrogation got me like "YOOOO" which is exactly what I hoped would happen watching this series. I'm interested in continuing.

Well Satine and I were never meant to have a "romance", ie be in love. Love takes time and effort and by the time Satine and I had met again our lives had both movies in different directions. There's nothing wrong with that, we both made the choice to serve a higher purposes but that does mean we were never in love because our relationship never got to that stage. I'm not supposed to be in love with Satine because that's not a very Jedi thing to do. You can't control natural feelings of attraction but you can control if you act on them. And Satine and I never acted on them and therefore never truly loved each other. I also feel this is a point many fans misinterpret. We live in a world where love and romance is encouraged. This is also a world where shipping occurs. And because of that, many fans project love into Satine and I's relationship when it never gets that far. The idea of anyone choosing not to love someone else because they already have a commitment to an ideal or organization is a very foreign concept to many viewers in the modern world and because of that, they can't fathom the idea of Satine and I not being in love. This idea of choosing not to love someone because of a greater duty was way more common in older societies. Like people who never married their true loves because they had to marry someone else to preserve their family's power. Or someone who never married because of a commitment to a religious order. Family power and religious orders don't have as much sway over people in today's world, but they need to be considered in Star Wars which draws huge inspiration from history. Like while the Jedi are not technically a religion, the order does draw influence from Buddhist and Christian monks. The Jedi's ban on relationships is likely directly inspired by how members of the Catholic clergy are not allowed to have relationships either. And if modern reverends and nuns can make the commitment to not get married today, so can Jedi. I kind of wish this moral was actually expressed in media more. Like it's your choice to fall in love or refuse that love for what you personally believe is a higher purpose. But modern notions of romance and love prevent modern movies from ever having the main character choose a different duty over love.

@17:00 I find the usual issue is that one either accepts it is a loose adaptation of the real-world issue, or you end up with a Metaphorgotten Aesop. This definitely feels like one of those things. If Death Watch is supposed to be ISIS, Mandalor the Middle East, and the Republic [insert real-world superpower], they changed to many important details.

Its not a 1 to 1 comparison. DW isn't literally IS IS (we didn't even know about them yet in 2009). The intent though is clearly there. It's a scathing condemnation of super power military internationalism in foreign nations that's been going on since the Cold War.

@@BullSession Thanks for explaining, but doesn't that support my point? Let this aspect of the series speak for itself. It is a good lesson these episodes taught... but actually tying it into a real-world occurrence, whether historical or contemporary, requires an honest, informed look at those occurrences, which are rarely if ever as cut and dry as the fictional version... ...and even if you really do want to get into such matters, better to give it its own video, where you can take the time to explain it all.
