@@Ragitsu The alterans discovered the insert-bug-name/Iratis bug. The alterans saw the wraith metamorphosis but did nothing afterwards to stop other humanoids from travelling to planets the bugs nested on or oveb bother to exterminate them. Because the alterans seeded the Pegasus galaxy with a bunch of humans aka perfect wraith bug hosts, it was their responsibility to put safeguards in place against the wraith bug. But nope they left their progeny dumb, death and blind. This created an enemy that decimated the human population they created which in turn severely diminished the alteran population caused them to flee back to earth. The wraith war has never made sense to me because how did the wraith create such a formidable armada without the alterans knowledge? After a human is bitten it's not like they immediately have the knowledge to create a ship it would have taken the first generation of wraith a long time to become that powerful. All I can assume is that the alterns had full knowledge of a new species being born that can only survive by stealing the life from humans. They didn't care about the other humans they brought into existence and seemingly only started to care when othe alterans were under threat. F the peasants I guess 😂

After the incident where Ronin smacked the tray of cookies out of the juvenile wraith's hand ten or 12 episodes earlier - showing that he has zero constraint - you would think that Weir and Shepherd would have tried to keep Ronin away from Michael during this experiment. But no... I like Ronin for the most part but the guy is a neanderthal.

13:10 "What would stop another wraith ship from coming in…" Interesting thought. But when this idea was first mentioned, the doctor described the drug as a retrovirus. Could they make it contagious? So it's feasible that if they could overcome the need for further drugs to maintain the transformation, it might spread to wraith feeding on them. Or that could have been their hope, anyway.

You finally made it to the turning point where the Atlantis crew becomes.... Villains. They became really bad people. Except for Ronan. Talk about a slippery moral slope!
@DWargs
6 ай бұрын
Bad people? Nah. They're just people. What they did to Michael wasn't morally right, but neither was what a lot of people did in a lot of wars, like, you know, killing each other, torture, mustard gas, bombing on civiliation populations, etc. I think you'll find that people tend to get very utilitarian in wars, setting aside their morals for the sake of innocent people and what they consider the greater good. It's a pretty common theme throughout history, and we've done far worse to our own species as a whole than anything the Atlantis team did to Michael. Weir was ready to make that decision, weighing the lives of every single human in the Pegasus galaxy against the lives of the predatory species culling them and slaughtering them. What did you expect them to do, just stand back and let the slaughter continue when they had a possible method to save lives? Atlantis at this point has limited reinforcements from Earth with thr threat of the Ori in the Milky Way taking priority. They have limited resources, and are completely outgunned and outmanned. Desperate people do desperate things, and if the retrovirus worked, it would be a huge win for the humans of the Pegasus Galaxy. What was done to Michael was wrong, sure, but to call them bad people is denying the fact that there are many people who would make similar choices under the right pressure and with the right justifications. The truth about humanity is that not only are we capable of great evil, we're also capable of thinking we were justified in doing it. I wouldn't be so quick to judge them for this.
@Millstone1985

@@DWargs Even if we accept the end justifying the means, what was the end there? You say that "if the retrovirus worked, it would be a huge win" but I don't see it even as a small win. It is just killing wraith with extra steps and the effect of creating a huge drain on the expedition's resources. The Pegasus galaxy already has plenty of humans in need of medical treatment and a new home. Why create millions of amnesiacs?

Everything is not as it seems with the Wraith. Be prepared to expect the unexpected toward the season finale. You wanted the Wraith and Ori to step up their game up. The season finale of both shows will do just that. I'm surprised one of the guards didn't wake up Dr. Beckett first before allowing Micheal to get a peek at sensitive material but if they had I guess we wouldn't have a storyline.

Coming out in the minority here to say that I've never cared for this episode. As much as everyone enjoys saying "Warcrimes" my response is more "idiot ball". There were hundreds of better ways for them to handle Michael, and they chose the absolute worst option every time. It feels like everyone, except maybe Tayla, was being intentionally obtuse because the writers wanted a creepy mystery episode.
