The groove of the original is definitely not something you would think work well with John's classical forte, and yet John has proven himself once again. Another banger!

Appreciate that! Yeah, I wasn't totally sure it would work out since that drums are really present. I decided to go for a more mellow feel and leave the desk drumming for the listener. :)

Really nice mellow rendition. One could almost imagine this playing in an Alexandria of ages past, one where people could look up at night and see the stars above

Everyone always geeks out about the main tracks like in raids and such, but the ambient tracks are really where the score shines

Im not gonna lie, it reminded me of a sad song that then turned optimistic. Crazy how the tone and tempo can change a song. Love your work and keep it up. Youre awesome

I have heard that melody at 18 seconds somewhere else and it is driving me crazy. To be clear it is not a rip off but definitely pulled inspiration from the other melody I cannot put a name to.

This is beautiful. So chill and mellow. When I first heard this song, I couldn't imagine how you could cover it with just one guitar, but you nailed it!

I could *swear* the main melody in Starless Skylines is present in so many parts of Dawntrail, but I never hear it outside of the city. Am I going insane, and require more classical guitar tunes to soothe my brain lest the lack of insight drive me mad?

Try searching for Smile from dawntrail, that might answer your question! The melody is present in a few cutscene melodies so far as I remember, not sure if it is the official song name but you can try searching up “Mantle of the Dawnservant” and the first song may ring a bell. Also, a section of the solution 9 theme seems to be reminiscent of Close in the Distance, same thing as the end part of Tuliyollal’s day theme…?

Bonus: In hindsight because we a r e closing the distance between the New World and a reflection, and it brings me back to the famous line Hades said in Ultima Thule (which was repeated again in 6.55 MSQ) “…The fabled golden cities of the New World? The sacred sites of the forgotten people of the south sea isles? “Expand your horizons. Go forth and seek discovery. Some of the civilizations in the reflections will surprise you. As the bearer of Azem's crystal, you may consider your duty to see at least that much. I certainly did.” So in a musical sense, this little leitmotif feels like a nod to the WOL taking on Hades’ words on their new adventures, or it could simply be the WOL moving forward from the past irl 10 years and starting a new chapter (like using Ultima Thule’s melody, the final zone of 5 expansions and twisting it to a more soothing jingle as if it is no longer the centre focus and put behind.)

Is it just me that can't help but hear Taylor Swift's Blank Space during the refrain? (so it's gonna be forever, or it's gonna go down in flames) (which is kinda also thematically fitting i guess?) Beautifully arranged and performed!

Imagine just playing with John at this point - “where are you in the msq mate? Cool, well log off and get practicing, I need a cover of this song now. No we won’t help you get into that dungeon until you’re done” 😂

As beautifully played as this is, it makes it sound more like something for Old Sharlayan 2.0 than Solution 9
