John was the original manualist on the Tonight Show. He was quite a showman! In 2001, I along with Bruce Gaston and Jim Rotondo showed off our manualism as The Three Tendons. That video and our "Behind the scenes on the Tonight Show" are both up here. I was a guest with my Handwhistling back in 1979 on the Tonight Show. That video is also up. Thank you for posting this!

John Twomey is a riot. His facial expressions are the best part.

Thanks for posting this. Looked for this when it occurred to me I might find it while listening to Souza's classic at tonight's Memorial Day fireworks. A classic Carson guest and one of the very best. Johnny's reactions are great too. Thanks again.

I saw this live and he was a guest on Carson and other talk shows many times. Unique talent, very funny and great. John Twomey was a lawyer and farted seven children...oops, I mean fathered seven. Wiki his name to learn more.

This started widespread interest and imitators of manumusic or hand music. Some call it fart music.

I learned to do hand sounds in grade school. I used it to embarrass classmates by making it sound near their behinds. After seeing this I tried playing music with it. I can do a little.

Next to Vladimir Horowitz's piano transcription of the same, this is my favorite two-handed version of "Star and Stripes Forever". Two hands can do hilarious and amazing things. (Check out Kuleshov bringing it on home at the keyboard...) kzitem.info/news/bejne/x5qtt3ycmmmbYKw
