I’m new to backcountry and am in Ny as well. Hoping to do Mt Marcy this winter😊. Definitely some stuff I never thought of bringing here!

Nice! Like I said, you can accumulate gear over time. Education and smart safe terrain choices will be a great start for this season!

I recently got a pair of 103 width touring skis and tech bindings (ATK Raider 12) and I'm stoked to use them this season. I'm looking at a 90-95-ish width touring ski to expand my quiver and Blizzard Zero G 95's are on the list because I heard they are pretty stiff which I like. Great production value, good content. Can't wait for more, I love ski-related channels.

Great video Nick! As someone new to this sport, and also in the Northeast, are there any places you’d recommend for a beginner to start at?

A lot of places have free uphill skiing, like stowe specifically, there’s plenty of people there always which makes it a safe place to learn to skin. I would recommend getting David Goodman’s book “best backcountry skiing in the northeast” That’s the holy bible for east coast BC skiing. I reference it in my marcy video (check it out if you feel inclined)
