Really great video, I’m not a truck driver but I want to buy my own truck and lease it. To be honest I don’t know where to start. Should I look for driver first before starting leasing the truck or the leasing company will provide me one as well! What would be the option in my favor please need advice and help.

Great video my bro thanx so much. I'm an owner operator been for 4 years now and my experience is and has been leasing on with companies big and small. My thing is you really sometimes have to be wise about some of these companies cause they will hit you with all these fees and if fess are too much, then 20 to 30 percent of ya revenue will go to fee before you see anything. Trust me because these companies know that trucks bring in money so they want to keep you working verses you having flexible and freedom as an lease on Owner operator. Some companies are bad about that. And then there are small companies basically mom and pops where there is basically force dispatch. They tell you it's not when really it is cause they have no one else but their few trucks to run their Frieght because they have to please the costumer. I was with a small mom and pops and I must say I mad good money but was just feed up with running so much and office personal getting upset when wanting to take off or refuse loads at times. Got so bad where my agent/dispatch felt like I was thier company driver with my own truck lol. So 3rd time we fell out so that's why I'm no longer there. Lol And then you have to worry about leasing on with companies that has their own company trucks but lease on Owner operator too. Now thing with this is, I don't know about all but company I was with basically had owner operators clean up what company trucks didn't or gave owner ops runs or broker runs just to try and gain customers. So I done seen quite a bit as a lease on. Also I would like to say to anyone reading this, if leasing on with companies find out if they have direct frieght from costumer's or brokers because that's the highest paying Frieght most of the time. Broker Frieght or random Frieght sometimes is too cheap expecially if they getting their cut off top so yeas..... And I want to get my own authority but just kind of risky with rates being low and wanting to stay closer to home but going to take it day by day too see what happens in this economy. But well wishes to ya my brother thanks again....👍🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I just want to say I appreciate everything you said and all of your feedback about your experience with leasing on…I know a little something about leasing on from what I heard from a few friends who has done it and they said everything that you just said…so you are definitely speaking the truth…I would just say if you want to get your own authority just have some money put up for these slow times like this but the rate’s definitely are trash right now

Yo bro is it possible to start any of this with barley any driving experience? Will the smaller companies trip about it? I got my CDL in 2021 early October. Only experience I have is CDL school, went driving once in a dump truck and passed a driving test for Sysco but had to decline the job due to family issues. With how expensive it is to live in Colorado, I guess having your own business is the only way to get by and save some money. I currently work as a carpenter by contract work, been self employed since high school graduation in 2016 and I’m 24 years old. I’m so used to working for myself that I find it difficult to ever go work for some company by an low hourly rate. What’s your opinion?

Great video I’ve been looking for something like this where it explains exactly what you would need to be compliant on the road. I just wish you would discuss everything you needed and the renewal process yearly quarterly like the 2290, State permits Like even if the companies taken care of it this is what is required regardless. Medical card truck inspection. Companies safety responsibilities will need to be changed on a cab Card . I don’t know if I don’t can’t find it but there is no single place that explains all requirements

Very well put forth and educational. I would to add one little 2c. Instead of a certain set rate per mile on every load from a mega carrier, most of your smaller companies will do some type of % such as....75...80%...whilest it may he 85 to even as high as 88 or 90% at other places. However...do not be fooled by 90% vs 80% whereas the one with the higher percentage may only have 2 or 2.25 freight/ whilest at the same time the one company with the lower 80% might have 3 dollar. 3.50 or 3.75 type freight....so in that case sometimes 75 or 80% might work out to be more than 88-90% over here. It can be confusing.

Sure, you can buy a truck and hire a contract driver. Alot of guys start out with a couple trucks, soon you have a fleet. You don't need a license to buy any kind of vehicle. You can fly any company flag and book through them, however you wouldn't be able to lease from a company, as in a company truck as a non driver, like swift.
