I love how comfortable you make the model, you correct her in a way where it doesn't make her feel uncomfortable about herself. Also you're throwing a lot of information out, but making it make sense lol I really hated photography classes but you are so helpful without taking any of the fun out for me. You took some of the most beautiful pictures.

Jessica, these are really beautiful portraits! They definitely check all the boxes that agencies are looking for in a test shoot, most importantly that the natural beauty of the model is shining through.

Jessica, just want to say thanks for this style of tutorial. It was especially cool when you demonstrated the difference between shooting close and giving some room to crop close. In addition, it was really nice to be able to hear the model give her perspective about the shots that she needs. Finally, I really love the eyes looking away shots. Something about them for me! LOL! Thanks again and have a rockin' day!!

There is so many reasons i watch your videos, jessica. They are brightening my day every time. They are funny, very informative, interesting, not overly technical and overwhelming. For me the way you are describing things is really intuitive and that's what i personally need. I love the way your videos are edited. They are calm without being boring and still don't lack any energy. I love your personality, the way you interact with people and general your surroundings. I just wish all the best things for you, your family and friends and of course your cats. Thank you for inspiring so many people and making them feel seen and respected. 😊❤

I like how you use accidental light or breeze to your advantage. You're not thinking "it must look a certain way". And using 1/800th is great for freezing the strands of hair. You didn't have to adjust when the wind picked up.

If i can have a request for this type of photography tutorial, I would really love to learn how to take photos where model doesn’t acknowledge the camera, i don’t know the right word for it, but when you look at the photos it is like you are peeking into the life of somebody doing their stuff. (Is it called candid photography?) If you know how to phrase it better, please help me. I would really love to learn it☺️ P.s. this video was awesome, thank you! I don’t shoot models, but the tips are very helpful regardless!

Great tutorial indeed. I followed you years ago when I first got into photography with a 70d, then 80d. Now I use a full frame 6d ii with an array of Canon lens Tell me, Canon 5d is and did you use M, AV, TV or something else??? There should be more photo shoots but of you. You certainly have the facial features to be included in your photo shoot. You certainly inspire. Thank you again for any info you supply.

Some great advice here, I've been shooting for model agencies for 10+ years, some pointers I'd give would be; Keep it natural looking in terms of makeup, styling and retouching, find makeup artists who are good at doing a 'no makeup' makeup look, and don't over retouch / kill the skin detail. less makeup is easier for retouching skin than too much. 50mm is good for full length etc, maybe jump to 85mm for head shots, it can be a more flattering perspective. don't go too crazy with the lighting, you can add shadow and shape to the light, but keep It flattering to the model, and stay away from dramatic Gel colours, unless its just a test / creative shoot. If you love black and white ( I do ) still try and give the model / agency colour versions of the final images, as well as the black and whites.

You gave more good advice on cropping in;! When I see agency photos on the website, I love those close ups and often crop in camera to get those kind of framing. I never thought to back up and crop IN to get those looks, afraid of losing pixels and resolution etc
