This is by far the most underrated KZitem channel I've ever seen. Creative project ideas, beautiful craftsmanship and great attention to detail, while documenting every aspect of the process with unparalleled videography and storytelling skills. Other creators don't reach this level of quality in years and you've made it right from your first video. This makes me want to come over to New Zeeland all the way from Germany, just to hang out a couple days and help with whatever you're up to 😄 I'm also really interested in a video about your educational background. Keep up the great work!

The KZitem algorithm is a hard nut to crack, but it's comments like yours that make it all worth while 👍. Thanks for your kind words of encouragement.

@@danwaterson356 Before all these algorithms we had this thing called organic growth Dan and It's still a thing. When everything else has become so stale - mainly because everyone ends up doing the same things to please the same _algorithm_ - that makes channels like yours stand out. If you fall into the same traps as the rest of them you'll end up just like them and I, for one, wouldn't like that. You're a breath of fresh air mate and you'll grow without needing to bend over backwards to the algorithm. KZitem lies about it's own algorithm so nobody really knows anything for a fact anyway. Don't be a slave to it. You don't seem like the type that's out for an audience with a 'short' attention span so don't let that stinking algorithm turn you into that. It's ruined so many other creators - turned them into algorithm zombies or something along those lines - where they post almost nothing now but 'shorts'. I find this channel refreshing because the videos are _not_ short. I agree with everything Hannes said above ... what an excellent start to a channel! I only found it yesterday but I love it. Don't let the algorithm turn you into another slave. You gotta keep the channel alive, I know that, I've managed more channels than my own - I get it but it's more to do with keeping your audience than it has to do with pleasing the algorithm. There's a lot to be said for organic growth, remember that :)

@@alflud I hear you loud and clear, and I'm glad to have connected with like-minded people such as yourself. I realised from my first edit that there's no way I'll ever be a short format kinda guy - the detail is just too important to me! As a high school teacher I'm all too aware of the exponential decay of attention span over the past few years, to the point it's quite alarming. I don't plan on making channel decisions based on a mis-guided interpretation of the algorithm, just an awareness that its perceived fickle nature will in some part determine the exposure of my videos and therefore the speed at which the channel grows. I have loads of projects planned because I WANT to do them not because I think they'll fit the algorithm, and I'm hopeful you'll all enjoy coming along on the journey with me👍

🙏 thanks for the comment. This is rather an indulgent size, but will allow for a good sized crop. I guess the beauty of planter boxes is they can be as small and tall as you like, so all you need to do is find somewhere outdoors with a bit of sunshine.

thats how i built the raised beds in our community garden dan, except i used accoya , v expensive but we were lucky to get a grant to pay for materials, it should last years, i remember the accoya was hard as hell but was lovely and straight with almost no knots or warping, we used galvanised tin sheets as infill and it looks quite smart , even if i say so myself,i prefferred doing the carpentry more than the shovelling to fill them😄 cheers

Nice work! Accoya would be pricy, and I guess that due to the cost of treatment they would only select quality boards with little to no defects. Like you, woodwork is one of my favourite pastimes- but shovelling would have to be my least favourite!

Great vid! I loved how ya transformed the old chook coop into a vibrant veggie garden. At the end, you mentioned an exciting upcoming project. Could ya make a vid about the planning phase for that? I reckon the planning process is just as fascinating as the construction itself. Cheers!

Any great work starts in the mind. Another well thoughtout project, again recycling resources at hand to great effect. I wish you had placed some of the redder panels on the outside. There's one in particular that looks like a Rotko painting! Regardless, impeccable design and execution leading to another work of beauty, making poetry with everyday materials. I already caught up with all the videos, so glad I discovered this gem of a channel. I am doing re-runs in hopes it can help it grow, and grow it will! Frustrated I can only give this video one thumb up.

You’re too kind my friend, and thanks for the re-runs!👍 Now you mention it those roofing panels are a bit abstract, definitely Rotko vibes! I built it for a friend and she preferred the more subtle tones showing on the outside. I’m impressed by your commitment watching all the videos 🙏. All going to plan the next video should be out around mid week.

@@danwaterson356 Commitment such directly proportional to the quality of content which is so good, so inspiring. I appreciated very much the exchange you had with a couple of people on doing strictly what you love, unconcerned with the algorythm "thing". That's the way to go IMO. 3.57K right now. Looking forward to the first cornestone, the 100K in not too distant a future. I also agree your narration style is classy, reminiscent of the calm elegance of Sir David Attenborough. Looking forward to the next episode!

Beautiful, but won't it have been much easier (and maybe cheaper) to use breeze blocks and then clad them? Don't want to sound critical, just an idea.
@danwaterson356
2 ай бұрын
There’s certainly loads of ways to build planters, and blocks would be one great idea. Definitely not cheaper though- I would’ve needed around 280 blocks, plus steel and concrete reinforcement to resist the pressure of the soil. Material costs would’ve been close to NZ$2000 whereas the timber only cost around NZ$600.
