I really loved how Massy emphasized health beyond the “aesthetics” and how she made a distinction between T1 and T2 diabetes. T2 and the metabolic diseases that come with it are definitely triggered by lifestyle and can be avoided/reversed. I recently saw a quote that said, “If you don’t make time for your wellness, you will be forced to make time for your illness.” Let’s make health our legacy! Cheering you all on! 🥳

Metabolic syndrome is genetic, and often leads to T2 diabetes, not the other way around. Lifestyle can usually reverse T2, but metabolic syndrome is NOT a result of diabetes. I have autoimmune and I have metabolic syndrome II, and when I get sick and need steroids it pushes me into steroid induced T2, because I am insulin resistant, due to having Metabolic syndrome II. I eat healthy due to my particular auto immune and food allergies. I am active. Just a bit of clarity on this.

This is so informative, I'm glad Adrienne is using all this data to get to a healthy lifestyle. For me personally, all this data would do more harm than good, I would get obsessed with the numbers. I started listening to my body, eating when I am hungry and not eating when I am not, not getting mad at myself if I missed the gym because I had too much work to do but also making sure I am doing easy to moderate workouts 3-4 times a week. All this is helping me loose weight very slowly but progress is progress. If Adrienne can combine mindfullness like I have described she will surely watch all those numbers go into the direction she wants! I wish her good luck on her journey to sustainable weight loss.

It's crazy that we're on this journey at the same time. I was part of a fat loss competition at my gym (used same machine) for the last eight weeks and I want to keep going. I'm currently 41.5% BF...let's see how far down I can get that to within six months to a year. Let's go, we've got this!!!

Checking in girlie! I got a new scan to see how far I've come in a month and I'm happy to say my body fat % has decreased to 35.8% and I've gained about 4 lbs of muscle 💪🏽 the best part is that I've achieved this without starving myself and without doing countless hours of cardio! My relationship with food and fitness has improved. It's not longer about restricting calories and cardio, it's now about fueling my workouts with the foods I eat and getting stronger by lifting. I'm beyond excited to keep this going, this is the most sustainable lifestyle change I've ever made.

I was slim for most of my teenage years. But looking back I wasn't skin and bones I was skin and fat. Very unhealthy. After having my son I gained 10 pounds and loved the way my body looked, But I did a test that told me I was 30% body fat and categorized me as overweight. Ignored it because I felt pretty with my curves. But I studied medicine years later and saw through a different light when I saw the fat we don't see around our organs. I love food LOVE it I am Caribbean but I can't let it cause me preventable diseases. I tried over and over but failed over and over this really open my eyes thank you for posting this Adrienne.

I def need this. I just had a baby 5 months ago, i actually had only put on 10lbs after birth but since then I’m up to 17lbs. I’m breastfeeding and tired alllllllllll the time. My baby is currently in the sleep regression phase so there goes my sleep and breastfeeding makes me even more tired. I don’t think folks understand how important sleep is when it comes to being healthy in your body, it actually helps u burn calories. I can’t even begin to think about working out and it saddens me because I was in my bag prenatal. I really needed this type of encouragement that Adrienne has. If there are any other moms like me out there please let me know how y’all do it, cuz I feel defeated 😞
