The elderly population likes to be shown respect. The will appreciate being spoken to and treated with respect. I noticed that with my dad when he was in a nursing facility. Some staff dis not understand that and it made them less trustworthy. Those who were respectful were perceived by my dad and us as someone you could trust to understand his needs.

It’s none of the employers business what someone’s credit history is. This is the problem….. business owners want first class employees, top shelf work, five star service for a one star paycheck!
@attorneybob
2 жыл бұрын
I guess that's debatable. Someone's credit history is very strongly correlated with the type of work and performance one can expect. From that standpoint, a person with good credit wants it as a factor. Regarding first class employees vis-a-vis paychecks, I guess we all want a bargain, albeit as true with most things, you generally get what you pay for, which is why I always recommend to employer clients that they pay in the top 10% of the market
@rdh1429

@@attorneybob sure everything is debatable, but that is personal and has absolutely nothing to do with the job. At least in my case.It’s important to have boundaries with employers and employees they do not get to know everything about your personal life and you don’t get to know everything about theirs. Also being a manager at several places I can tell you it is NOT strongly correlated with the type of work you can expect in my experience.

@@rdh1429 I appreciate your comment and thoughts, albeit this isn't the right place to have a theoretical discussion regarding credit checks on employees. Thanks for the kind words, and WI tends to have much lower regulatory requirements than many states. At the local level, you may be required to get a taxi/livery license, and depending on the size of vehicle, an "authority" from the state. Likely, your biggest hurdles aren't from the state, albeit from the contracts, if you sign, by brokers.

I love the idea of someone your age wanting to start a business. Give me a call during the end of March or early April and we'll have a conversation. The quick answer will be you're limited without an adult (such as a parent etc.) that will be the official owner due to the inability to find companies willing to contract with you (likely, albeit not for sure as it depends on the state, you can disaffirm contracts because of your non-adult status). Regardless, I would seek out a job with a provider that's doing things right regardless of the pay so you can gain experience and a greater understanding while getting paid at the same time. It's a much better way to learn something from the beginning when everything is on your dime.

I recommend working for someone before starting a business in ANY industry. So many learning opportunities that you get paid to learn instead of spending your money learning. I believe a lot of providers have direct clients. That said, at the literal level, all transportation uses a "contract" even if oral. I take your question as to mean with brokers/middlemen and/or government agencies, and the answer to that is yes, it's possible and perhaps more profitable.

If I'm in your position without knowing more than you posted, I would begin with reaching out in person to various support services you may contract with, or who may know who you want to talk with. State and local government offices, including those who reimburse for medical appointments are also a great place to look into. Lastly, the local Small Business Administration office and SCORE (I think it stands for senior core of retired executives, but you'll want to verify) will be able to provide a lot of help in gaining business leads, contacts, and contracts to work.

Hi Laurie, I would find a local business attorney to talk to regarding starting your LLC. That said, if you're just a one person band without investors or partners, many (most maybe) states have online forms you can complete to create a state "default" business entity which works for most (I still recommend spending the time/$ to meet with an attorney for 30-ish minutes beforehand. Make sure you surround yourself with professionals who are interested in seeing you be successful. That includes an attorney, accountant/bookkeeper, and insurance agent, which all three being able to guide YOU, and you NOT having to guide them.

I would start by actually working for another in the business already as I mention in the video. That's a great way to learn from the inside what you need to know, as well as help you gain a greater understanding of the income potential available to you. From there, I would look for a vehicle and contract you can use to migrate from working for another to your own business. If you're not in too big of a hurry, you can make much more money in the long run by not having to re-invent the wheel and learn from someone else.
