Thanks for waiting for this episode. ※ その下に日本語訳。 Just wanted to quickly answer the question I get asked every time I show the rear end of this car. No, sadly I wont be adding GTR tail lights. 😂 I've done a few mockups of the round tail lights and no matter what I did they just really didn't fit in with the rest of the car. It's one of those things that sounds good in theory but in real life there's definitely something off with it, at least to me. Not to mention this build has dragged on long enough and I think we're all ready to just see it finished haha. But one thing I do want you to help me decide on, is should we add a roof spoiler to this car or not? If we add one it could mean this build takes an extra month or more to complete, if not we can have this build finished and these kits up for sale hopefully by the end of the year, and much more importantly, we'll be free to move on to my next build which I have been itching to get started on for months. Let me know in the comments!

Well, I disagree. Wagons with pinlights lose their mighty appearance. The 850 T5R is king of the taillights - if you like it or not. Just because there is a R35 front doesn't mean there has to be an R35 rearend, too. It's not a R35 wagon, it ist still a Stagea - even with a proper face surgery.

How did you take into account the fiberglass piece coming out of the mold being smaller than the mold itself? Did you just make the mold "slightly larger"? Or was there actual math to this?
@TofuAutoWorks
3 күн бұрын
In CAD we offset the outer face of the design 3.5mm from the bodyline on the car, this is the standard thickness of the fiberglass parts that I make. After that, we just designed everything to the same dimensions as we expect to have the finished part and when thickening the 3D model to turn it into the mould, I thickened it from the outside, which then leaves the outer surface of the CAD model as the inner surface of the 3D printed mould.

where there dots on the 3d prints for drilling out the dowel pins, or how else did you keep them alligned?
@TofuAutoWorks
3 күн бұрын
When you cut it into pieces using whichever 3D print slicing program you use (I use PrusaSlicer) most of them have the option to include the holes for dowels or pins directly on the cut join as you make it which aligns them perfectly in each piece. For CAD work all you have to make is the part itself, you don't need to worry about splitting it up into pieces.

I was wonering if there would be an option for dual exhaust on the rear lip? (I'm not in the market, they don't offer the Stagea in the US)
@TofuAutoWorks
3 күн бұрын
Since this lip is fiberglass it is easy for people to modify and add another hole on the other side, but I deliberately left it with just the single hole so that it will work with the stock exhaust or whatever aftermarket exhausts people might already have fitted. If I tried to match the GTR with 4 exhaust tips, everyone would have had to buy a custom exhaust on top of an already pretty expensive conversion kit, so I wanted to make that optional for people with less budget.

This is the prototype, there is still a lot of work that needs to go into getting it not just to fit right on the car, but also refining a lot of the lines. The sharpness gets lost with the resolution I print at so making it smoother it comes out of the mould easier.
