@tipex I am pretty sure that this device is connected to the car's regular AM/FM antenna =)

@TheGreatBunghole16 It would but best on the high bands provided you have a receiver with a 50 ohm coax input (as I do in the form of a communications receiver) but if you have that an HF vertical for amateur radio operation would be best. Most if not all of those portables have some sort of 1/8th inch mono headphone type jack for external antennas that a longwire can be plugged into. If you have soldering skills an adapter to go from a wire antenna and ground to the jack can be easily built.

@TheGreatBunghole16 I don't think the factory AM/FM whip would be efficient enough to receive DRM shortwave or MW because it would be too short even with a loading coil. The best thing for this would be a whip that is a half wave at 27 MHz and have a coil to load it and reduce its resonant frequency.

@bratina501 On SW receivers here in the USA, they have the same size whip antennas as FM receivers... they seem to work ok, but maybe a CB antenna would work better? :)

dear user, could you please tell me what frequancy ist shown by the car radio while the truck box is tuned to an analogue AM or SW station ? I would be grateful to you, because on the manufacturer's leaflet there is no mention to this. yours sincerely. trikordo
