Geeze, yeah, if you are insurance adjuster you are in a veritable Iron Maiden of laws and regulations. If your adjuster is shitty all you have to do (lawfully) is whimper and he gets fined and may face jail time. I dont understand how people don't know how regulated and controlled insurance is. It's not the f-ing wild west. My first time in the field was Hurricane Harvey. I was working a claim when I saw the insureds Liquor collection. They had a Patron suitcase and I remarked "Wow, thats cool I didnt know Patron made a suitcase" they insisted I take it home because they didnt want it. I was terrified they would use it against me if their claim was denied. Which, it wouldnt have been because it was hurricane friggin Harvey. The issue is that people think adjusters are able to lie, and cheat the system, and deny claims at their liesure and that's just not the way it works. We could go to jail for S I M P LY B E I N G D I S H O N E S T. If a contractor is dishonest they have far more legal wiggle room than an insurance professional and if they tell you that's incorrect it's simply because they aren't educated in how the insurance industry works. (I say all of this knowing full well you wont believe me). Yet there is this general "Understanding" that you cant trust your adjuster lol, Nah fam, your adjuster is scared to fuck up. Wherever you learned that you need to believe that the adjuster is the enemy is lying to you. The more you get, the more we succeed. I have had entire claims denied and I make a FRACTION of the wages than if the damages were covered. If You're roof costs 12 grand to replace, and youre flooring was damaged, and your kitchenette and your entertainment center was damaged, and the underlaiment needs to be replaced I get a percentage (bracketed) of that total. Take my word for it ( in a catastrophe situation) if anyone tells you otherwise you can be assured they dont know what they are talking about.

@cptmcquacken4887
2 жыл бұрын
@@dc2979 Well, I can say that when an adjuster says "I can't advise you on coverage" is because they are only there to write an estimate on damages (in a CATastrophe situation) It's hard for adjusters because homeowners want answers and information. The hard truth is that your adjuster (depending on the company) cant tell you "Yeah we'll replace your roof." Because (Secret) if an adjuster tells you they will cover something, the company HAS TO COVER IT. There are stipulations. If the crew that put your roof on before a storm, did a shitty job, the INS co. IS NOT responsible because that is poor workmanship liable by the roofing company. A storm came through, the half assed job by the roofing company should have protected your home, but because of their negligence you ended up with a leaking home and damaged property. An insurance policy is not a get out of BS card. Choose your contractors wisely. Perhaps the issue is that homeowners fail to understand how insurance works. For example, if you replace your toilet, and the plumbing you put in place ruins your bathroom, thats YOUR fault and the insurance company is not required to cover it...that's not what insurance is for. All that being said, in the INS Industry, there is a stigma, that agents don't always do the best job. They want to sell you a policy and their success is contingent upon it. Your agent is responsible for your policy and the details therein. KNow your policy and know what you are buying and how it works. If I buy a new vacuum cleaner off of wish.com and it doesnt work, I cant blame wish, I was the one choosing the worst route and a risky source. Be careful.

Both parties are supposed to use their own ladders. Since the roofer used the adjusters ladder he was telling him he had broken a known rule. What really happened here is the roofer was trying to switch the storm date from April to July. The adjuster said this had already been inspected. Meaning they had photos of all this damage way back in April but that would have been outside of 1 year to be able to file a claim for that date. So he was trying to use a new date that fell within the 1 year mark. Truthfully this roofer is unprofessional and is just your typical door knocker. The adjuster is also unprofessional. The slope on this roof isn't too too bad, but I also make it clear I don't want people walking above or parallel to me. Independent adjusters have little to no authority. If the insurance company is slow, an independent adjuster situation could prolong the claim for months. Especially during major events when the phone adjusters for the insurance company are overwhelmed. @@gregsteed870 Not true. I inspect and upload my report and estimate the same day. Staff adjusters usually have a stack of claims on their desk that get little to no attention because of the high work load that just follows you in the office enviroment. Independent adjusters do not slow the process down at all. I've been both a staff adjuster and now an independent adjuster and as a staff adjuster I looked forward to receiving the independent adjuster's report because the hard work was done for me and in most cases I could move them off my desk much quicker...and especially so during hurricane events. And your statement about the majority of independent adjusters on Cat claims have little to no experience is just plain uninformed. Good adjusting firms weed out the inexperienced adjusters pretty quickly. Perhaps the adjusting firm you worked for hired inexperienced adjusters but I find that to not be the case with the firms I run for. Yes, it is easy to get an adjuster license but much harder to be deployed if you have no experience. It can take 3 years to really get established as an adjuster because most adjusting firms will not consider you experienced enough to handle a large claim volume.

Out of all these "adjuster tries to scam us" videos I've seen, every single one has been State Farm. You'd think after awhile they'd realize being shady is gonna lose them customers and they'll end up losing more money than if they'd just be honest and pay the claims like they should. If I've learned anything from all these videos, I'll never even ask for a quote from State Farm. I've had progressive for over a decade and they've been amazing both on my cars and my home. Had some hail come through last year. Didn't see any damage at first, but then had 3 contractors come over and take a look and they all found some damage totaling ~$4k-$5k worth of repairs. Progressive's adjuster came out and said "reside the whole house, reroof the whole house, replace both sheds, replace garage doors, replace the gutters, replace 4 windows, repaint the garage (1400sqft detached garage) and give the customer a week in a hotel". What we expected to be $4k turned into a $46k settlement off an $850/yr policy premium. THAT is how you make lifelong customers that'll recommend your company to everyone they can. State Farm's motto is "like a good neighbor, State Farm is there"... I'm starting to realize what State Farm thinks "good neighbor" means is "the local HOA president Karen who 'helps you out' by reporting every single violation she can find, refusing to uphold the HOA's end of the deal, and blaming you when the HOA maintenance guy backs into your car".

One thing that bothers me as an insurance adjuster, first and foremost in this case is how un educated this adjuster seems and how any video like this seems to be allstate or statefarm. But the real thing is this general air of "Don't trust adjusters or insurance companies." I can't speak for my company at large but I can tell you I do my best to record everything and make sure you get everything you are owed for your loss. One thing people don't understand is that adjusters get payed more for more damage reported. If your house is worth 300k and I report a TL. Then I get a percentage of what your policy covers on your loss. I'm not going to report that an unlivable home is fine, firstly when I know the insured has to live in it and secondly it behooves me morally and financially to be accurate. The idea that Adjusters are trying to scam you on behalf of the company is flat stupid, because I get paid more to replace your whole roof, underlaiment, felt, shingles boots, flashing etc than to just report 1 damaged square. This isn't adjusters being scammers, this is adjusters being undereducated and lazy. Remember that next time you have an adjuster. Granted a good adjusters job is to determine whether damage was caused from the reported loss. If you tell me your garage door was damaged in the tornado but I can see the damage existed in 2012 from google street view, I'm not putting that on the claim. Maybe I'm just one of the good ones. Granted I have caught insured homeowners trying to scam the company multiple times. This idea that the homeowner would never do such a thing is laughable too. I had one homeowner send in pictures of damage after Hurricane Laura, that were allegedly his home, but he had no clue that his iphone recorded the coords of where the pictures were taken MILES away. Kinda weird when you're like "Hey, this picture of your home shows ridge vents and....well your house doesnt have them.

The adjuster's are absolutely trying to short pay claims. Every major carrier has a set of internal guidelines they have to follow for estimating that specifically omits certain line items in the estimate. The adjuster's are then graded on whether or not they follow those guidelines. If they don't they are written up and fired. This prejudices their ability to fairly adjust each claim on their own individual merit. This type of "shady" practice is why people should never trust their insurance company. These videos also show how inept most of the adjuster's really are. They have little to no construction back ground and don't know how to actually repair anything, yet they are the same ones who think they are somehow qualified to determine if something is repairable. It would be like having a someone with no IT background or qualifications tell you that your computer cannot be fixed. Not to mention getting your adjusters license is a complete joke of a class and does not actually train or ensure anyone is qualified to do the job.

Had to call Allstate for roof damage after a storm. The adjuster had some boots he glued and strapped thick foam rubber to the soles just for walking on roofs. A few checks and photos then he measured the roof and came down and inspected all of my windows and window screens for hail damage also. He said people forget about them all the time. He told me about all the damage and more that I couldn’t even see. He said he would get this taken care of quickly and that a check would be in the mail unless my agent brought it personally. I’ve been with Allstate for 17 years for my home insurance and at least 23 for my car insurance. They’ve been great anytime I’ve had a claim.

I think that it's funny every time one of these adjusters is caught getting filmed they leave. Not only that on his way off he walked all over the ridgvent creating damage as the nails pull out. They may not pull out far but it will create a problem in the future. Your not suppose to walk on the ridgvents bud, I install tones of new ridgvents a year for what I do and i would never allow that to happen. I think the insurance world are the shady ones. People pay all these premiums on time and still get denied when they need to use it and to that I say ridiculous. Also if he was doing his job right and on the up and up he wouldn't have to worrie about saying something he wasn't suppose to on camera.

The reason those shingles are wearing that fast after 12 years is because they are 3-tab shingles. Just by listening to the video that’s a pretty windy area and there’s not many trees to deter the direct sunlight. 3-tab shingles need a cool low wind environment. That house needs an architectural roof like the darker roof next door. Technically the insurance does not need to replace the roof because 1. The home was built with a shingle that was not meant for the environment. 2. Insurance does not cover wear and tear.

Based on your conversation, I’m guessing there were 2 storms. The initial storm in April that caused some damage, and then the tornado caused additional damage. This is why I don't give a date of loss, the "we don't know, we just discovered the damage is better than getting it wrong or damn near impling there were two dates of loss like this roofer did. If they paid for a repair for the April storm, then a replacement after the latest storm, there would be two deductibles and the initial repair $$ taken off the replacement claim as you likely know. My parents have state farm. Their house was built in 1987 and still had the original roof. In 2021 that filed a claim for a new roof, it was denied twice after the adjuster came out, but luckily they had a good agent for state farm who was able to make it happen. They have had that house since 1996 and have paid over $50,000 in home owners insurance, never having filed a claim. It was the biggest headache and one of the other things they do is they will only give the home owners half the amount and they paid the company the other half directly. They clearly do this so home owners don't just pocket addition money by getting the work done for less then estimates, but WHO CARES. If they roof need replacing and they know the cost then the insurance companies are out the money anyways. They would rather pay more because of higher estimates when paying companies directly than the home owners pocketing a small (or substantial in some cases) difference. Even if the home owner pocketed the entire thing and never got it done, oh well. They did their part and paid it out, now it's the homes owners problem.

That roof is beat. Look at all the prior repairs. I love how people are saying the adjuster is the bad guy when the homeowner ignored his roof for years and files a claim for this disaster. I sell roofs for a living and I also conduct roof inspections for insurance companies. I'd likely recommend replacement of all of the slopes that have wind damage but it would be absolutely fair to write it for repairs considering the fact that the roof has repairs all over. Funny how people repair the roof when they're paying but they expect the carrier to replace it on their dime.

@@stevenskinner5032 I 100% agree. I play both sides of the fence in this industry. I sell roofs for an awesome roofing company and I conduct roof inspections for carriers. The roof is brittle as evidenced by the lap-line snapping of the shingle, it has moderate to heavy granular loss and is in a un-repairable state....Obvious even from a KZitem video.. I would have finished this roof inspection in 10 minutes based on what I see here in this video, and would have uploaded the Xactimate estimate to the carrier before the night was done. Slope replacements on this particular roof would be a fair and true settlement to the policyholder, the insured's contractor, and good for my income as an adjuster, and may I say...also welcomed by the desk adjuster so he/she wouldn't have to fight the claim or perhaps a public adjuster in the future. The main problem is that a majority of adjusters, whether staff adjusters or independent adjusters, have never had to contend with trying to repair a toasted roof. Heck. I would venture to say that a full 98% of adjusters have never even tried to lift a brittle shingle to put a replacement under it. They act like they know but they DO NOT.
