And assuming that the person you're talking to doesn't know anything about the topic you're speaking about is a good way to be sure you're argument is airtight in my opinion. About five years ago, I was using mild psychedelics and yogic breathing as a form of psychotherapy to help me treat my anxiety, PTSD, and other problems. Suddenly, all at once, I felt all the air go out of my mouth and my "self" with it. I shot out into, the "universe" I guess, and I went to a place with an infinite number of faces on every dimension. I lost all singular identity and realized, and felt that "I" was actually all of those people, but also a nonbeing, I was also no one. It and "I" seemed to go on forever, both everything and nothing all at once. Just as suddenly as I was pulled into that state, I shot back out of it to the "material" world, As I looked around, I knew that every single thing was fake, just an idea. I knew nothing was real, and it terrified the living shit out of me! I was shaken for weeks till I could even start to wrap my head around what I had experienced. It can be terrifying initially, but freeing ultimately. I've had many inexplicable experiences since before then and afterwards, some brought on by DMT and others seemingly at random, and all my perceptions of reality have been mostly shattered. If I explained to most any person how I perceive the world or universe around me, they would say I was insane. "Truth" be told, I don't miss "sanity" one bit. I'm much happier this way. My life has changed radically. I'm writing the books and creating the things I have always wanted to, without guilt.(was raised in an abusive religious cult and was programmed with self-hatred) My ideas about things are almost impossible to put into words, my religion is personal, but similar to that of the Gnostic, in that, I see only patterns but no real definition. I don't know if anyone can really know anything, but for me, the changes to my consciousness, no matter how bizarre or shocking, all seem to work out for me in the end. I've had dreams, visions, and an NDE, all of which have radically changed my personality. I'm much happier and worry far less, despite my past traumas and self-imposed stigmas. For me, all I have to think about these days is writing my books, leaving something behind for the other figments, then moving on to the next character in the next game. I probably didn't make any sense at all here, but that's my current paradigm. On a side note, despite experiencing something like Brahman consciousness, I've also encountered what seems like a God being three times. It cannot be described, except that it was infinitely loving, infinitely accepting, non-judgemental, encouraging, and absolutely infinite. I don't know if it made me, or is me, but what I do know is that it matches no descriptions whatsoever. I could write an entire book full of my thoughts and questions on these two subjects alone, but I digress to egress. Namaste, friends.

Hi, Conner. I'm glad that you successfully navigated your initiation experience. Individual experiences often share similarities. If it's of interes and comforting, I have heard similar descriptions and like responses from other males. Do you recall instructions, symbols, visuals? When experiencing alternate states it often takes me many hours of work to interpret the information received to glean the meanings and integrate the experience . Your description indicates that an energy download occurred enriching every cell in your body. Hopefully you received the message along the way to take very good care of your mind, body, and soul so that you may experience altered states safely. You can go deeper without psychedelics and to spiritual realms to receive "the fruits of the spirit." (energy frequencies) making clairvoyance etc. possible. You will continue the work eternally to master matter (self) and energy/ consciousness frequencies. Enjoy your process to peace and understanding. Focus on NOW releasing the stored dense energies from the past to enjoy greater freedom. SOAR!

I "became" a plant in my office;; I became a cow on a field eating grass (could feel my hot breath coming out of cows nostrils) Since this process has come about over many years(I'm 76 now) , solipsism is not weird or scary to me---it is WONDERFUL Thank you for the amazing video, even tho I KNOW I'm thanking myself😊

It also synthesizes nice with the concept of holons and holistic thinking, rather than analyzing shit to pieces. @@harman9132 Hi Arman. I am not sure if your question is for me or Leo, but in case it's for me, I will share my experience. No, I did not use a substance. When I was a kid, I noticed that everything had a specific feeling to it: winter, a post-soviet interior, a woman selling candles at an orthodox church. It struck me that each of those feelings came as a 'packaged whole' having a distinct 'signature' to it. The same applied to people: I cannot tell apart faces (to me, all people look the same), but somehow I could register that people's 'signatures' were different, and sometimes they nested each other and/or overlapped. When I started doing spiritual work, I quickly grasped that feeling is all there is to everything and that it is made of consciousness. For that, I used Leo's guided self-inquiry and Peter Ralston's consciousness work.

1:06:00 This topic about the connection between sanity and "realization of the true nature of reality" is so IMPORTANT. And it really became so obvious to me, when I started practicing and actually trying to FEEL, SEE and EXPERIENCE the true nature of reality by myself (not just believing "enlightened" gurus). That made me insane. Really to the point where i am not able to function as normal person. Everything gets deconstructed automatically now, and it's hard to "fall asleep" back to normal reality. Experience just flows, reality constantly changes. Thoughts, feelings, sounds, events, it's a constant soup, and no one to relate it to. There is literary NOWHERE to ground the experience. It's really such thin line between complete insanity and trying to pretend to be normal, in order to function here. The mind plays tricks, and often don't even understands whats going on. But the mind NEVER understood it in the beginning. It only imagined so... I basically had to take sick leave from work (even though i work remotely), I have to learn how to live with this state of consciousness. But every day is new, every experience is new. It freaks the mind SO much. It's more authentic, more RAW, more connected. It's certainly more ALIVE, than the unconscious living. Sleeping in the illusion of "real" reality. ❗But the price for "seeing the true nature of reality" is SO FREAKING HIGH. And now i have stopped the practice (for the time being), because I learned to appreciate the STABILITY of this realm, of what IS. Most of the people have no freaking idea, how scary and unsettling it is for the mind to see reality fall apart - without psychedelics (after the trip you return to normal, but if it happens without the substances... you have nowhere to come back). In this lofty , familiar, stable reality - you have parents to love, siblings, fresh air, hugs, animals, travel, life purpose, achievements and so on, there is so many beautiful experiences... This IS a very beautiful dream. So i decided not to fully destroy it for myself (for now 😄). P.S. I don't understand why "mainstream enlightened gurus" don't speak about it. Not everyone can handle that level of understanding. And they make it sound so easy and lofty... Thank you for the video, Leo.🤗

Live like consciousness, this is your true identity. I 100 percent understand the not able to read a book or talk to people. I went to a level where I was able to see multiple outcomes after my actions and from my view it looked like I really took both took the actions, but would remember that I did not and could not see which one I actually took in the quote “real world”. It’s like if someone told me “take out the trash” from my view I saw all possibilities and responses at once so my response would be “I already told you I took it out”, “I’ll take it out later”, or “why are you so mad? I I’ll take it out in min” not to mention I was able to see the possible responses that another person could give, while at the same time seeing it as them already given the responses. Now to a person with low consciousness would see me as having sort of a schizophrenic episode because to them it would look like I was randomly talking and unfocused. But to me I was trying to respond to all seen possibilities unable to determine which one actually happened in the real world. Changed my whole view on schizophrenia honestly.

Advaita Vedanta‘s take on states is: All states of mind appear within unchanging consciousness. Consciousness is no state since it doesn’t have a beginning or end. It is ever unchanging and unmoving. Consciousness is non dual reality. Consciousness is without separation to any state. There is zero distance between your state of mind and consciousness. Your mind can learn to know what consciousness is. Consciousness is nothing you can reach. Why? Because you are already consciousness, right here, right now.

@@dcktater7847 buddha defined enlightenment as ' the end of suffering', why ? because how can something that doesn't exist in the first place suffer, you was never born nor you'll die, you are eternal consciousness, your human idea of 'you' is a constant thought in your mind, it's imaginary, you are imagining yourself the illusion of 'maya' is very strong at convicing you otherwise, even giving you a fleshy form, but once you become lucid in this dream, suddenly you're like AAAAAAAAAAAH , AAAAAAAAAAAAAH i see, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH this 'becoming lucid' is an experience, they named it satori, enlightenment, awakening, samadhi, and many many names in all cultures, that's what you should look for

@@dcktater7847 Easy. It is actually very practical. Suffering is a state of mind. If you don’t know what consciousness is, then you easily mistake yourself with your mind. This creates more suffering and reactions that aren’t based on freedom, peace and happiness. Consciousness is whole, complete and full, unchanging, unmoving, ever without properties, all-permiating, actionless, without fear, without thought and fully ordinary and absolutely normal. It is pure love. It is you. Consciousness is the ever free subject and no object. When we make ourself into objects then we forgot our identity with consciousness and believe we are the ego mind. Since consciousness is free it doesn’t matter to it whether your mind is suffering. Remember suffering is a changing state of mind. And consciousness is the unchanging witness of all there is.

Leo, you do an absolutely excellent job of guiding my consciousness into higher states. I hope you can continue for many years to help others do the same. I've had quite a few awakenings/realizations and I attribute them to your videos, not entirely but these videos are like one tool in my spiritual tool box. I think the more time you spend contemplating on this topic, even if you're not totally focused, it can raise your baseline. I too struggle to embody the awakenings I've had. But, my baseline state is noticeably higher than it was 5 years ago. Also, cross referencing what you say with other videos/research is fantastic advice. I seem to have a good grasp of the concepts based on many similarities and differences of teachers. Thank you!

When I was 12 years old I had the flu and had 104° temperature I was delirious but I remember thinking that there was someone somewhere being able to see here and experience what I was experiencing I am a struggling addict I have beat the heroin habit I haven't had a drink in years but my doctor prescribed me gabapentin which affects your central nervous system and in the past few months I realized that it was withdraw of the prescription that made me relive all the years of my past I went into the ER one night just sobbing and I felt so alone it felt like I was in the room by myself for hours I was feeling nothing but dread and this doctor come in and he gave me a shot of Valium and a prescription of Xanax which was a Band-Aid right now. I did experience other states of consciousness where I saw a small being that was black and had no face I've went into the kitchen one time when I was about 6 years old and saw another kid and it scared the hell out of me and one time when I was about 25 I was walking down the railroad tracks at night and saw it girl that shouldn't have been there and she also looked frightened to see me. I don't understand a lot of things but I do understand that using a substance to change your state of consciousness can have consequences I'm not talking about psychedelics or marijuana I'm talking about what I'm a pseudocle products that open up other top of mean receptors and leave you in a state of despair. That's the state and trying to get out of.

ever since i was a kid. I always wondered how we could move in space... I imagined that time was split up into slices. as we went from slice to slice we go through time and space.. But i think this makes more sense.. because this means anything we experience is like a slight change in all the states we experience like temp or pressure or emotion or space or magnetism and many other things we perceive.. anything we perceive is just a fluctuation/ changes in our state... to us it looks like things move and change and it even looks like we are moving or changing..

One tricky distinction is between mind and consciousness. I simplify it by defining consciousness as an on/off state of being aware as a self. And mind can be defined as the foundation of reality, including the content in consciousness, and that can be different levels of experience. Leo's explanation of figments of consciousness I think is brilliant with the hierarchy of figments. And with my definition, mind can be seen as the totality of figments of consciousness. For example a molecule is a figment of consciousness made of atoms which are other figments of consciousness (also notice that the molecule is its own figment of consciousness which cannot be reduced to just atoms, so it's not like a material hierarchy). It's all mind structured as figments of consciousness which are all the 'stuff' there is in reality! Why do I need to call it mind instead of consciousness? Because I see consciousness as being off in deep dreamless sleep and on in the waking and dream states etc. Mind is always 'on' so to speak in my definition. Edit: A better term is perhaps what Leo used from 1:15:20 and to call it Mind (with capital M) to mean the totality of reality and mind to mean the individual mind.

@@Anders01 what I gathered from it was, yes, it is compositions of figments, but those figments are all even. No figment is more important than the other, hence no hierarchy. Just one figment broken into different figments that are equally important to the development of said figment. Similar to if it weren’t for that one thing/things that thing wouldn’t be here or if a mirror breaks, it turns to glass, which turns to sand, nd so forth. Sand is just a important to ur reflection as a mirror is. U know what I’m sayin? Lol

What do the many states of consciousness have in common? The I am, the individual or the witness to them. Inquire into that individual, the witness or the I am, and then see what figments of consciousness are. Consciousness is always a relative experience. You can take the inquiry past Consciousness to the Nothingness. It's ok that Consciousness still appears, you just know that the I am that it appears to is the Not I-I. You just know.
