The Staten Island Ferry rides are free and takes 30 minutes each way. I only went on the ferry because I wanted a glimpse of the famous Landry, the Statue of Liberty.
Once the ferry arrives at Staten Island, one could go for a walk on the island, but I’m going to disembark and catch the next ferry back.
Next stop - the 9/11 memorial. It’s one of the ‘must go to’ sites, and since it’s only a short walk away, I thought I’d go check it out.
On the other side of the road is the St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. I went inside and although it’s small, it is very beautiful and I lit a couple of candles for all my followers, friends and family.
Then I headed for Brooklyn Bridge intending to get up on it, but the entrance to the promenade was closed and apparently there is another way to get there, but I couldn’t find it and didn’t see any signs. So I abandoned the idea and decided to go check out the South Sea seaport piers. Yes, it was a good idea and it was lovely strolling on the decking and taking in fresh air.
