It might be an unpopular opinion, but I hate when people recommend stuff like this. It's one thing to mention it as good for subtle makeup. But sometimes these super sheer products can't be built up and won't show up on darker skin. Also the lack of pigment for high prices is ridiculous.

I do love low pigment blushes as face powders, but they can be hard to identify b/c so many companies really do overhype the saturation. Very few come out and say that they are extra light coverage & won't show up. A lot of companies pay lip service to shade diversity but have become real subtle assholes about it. By the numbers, pale people with typically Caucasian undertones are losing "market share" rapidly. If I were a large brand, I'd be eyeing the increasing diversity of disposable income & selling selling selling. Anytime someone is racist is a way that is also financially limiting, I know they've got an institutional or personal problem. No amount of fussing is going to make white people, esp us paler than tan - a majority of consumers with money to spend. The US will be majority POC in like 30 years, that's a long time for individual people, but not a long time to reset complexion products for the new market. And most big brands sell overseas too, I believe that the majority of people who can afford makeup are not pale. And remember, fair is for justice & carnival food, never people. The word for skin means exactly what you're worried it does. It's factually untrue, and it's been used in a gross way recently enough that it still carries harm. If you see it in labeling, tell the brand why you can't buy from them. Pale is not an insult, that's something white people say to pretend a little criticism of their appearance is anything like experiencing categorical bigotry.

I hate Influencer culture so MUCH!!! I refuse to buy anything from an ad... I turn to those who have actually used the product. I buy from small businesses (as a small business owner myself), or I might buy a product out in the wild if I'm in need of something. Too many people faking results all over the place. I'm so glad I'm not a very young girl in today's society, with how confusing and toxic influencer culture is... all the lies. Back in the day, theatrical makeup would be set by Pro MUAs using essentially just pure hairspray to keep everything from budging but that was because it was for the stage and makeup was hardly that advanced back in the mid-1900s and those surrounding years. Honestly, I still use certain hairsprays to completely set my makeup but only on few special occasions and I make sure to plug my nose and refrain from breathing until I escape from the mist while it clears away (usually done outside). It’s DEFINITELY not recommended and I would never suggest anyone else try this because no one can guarantee your skin won’t react so poorly to this, but it IS something people still do for especially long-wear occasions. I just don’t believe it should be relied on and only carefully done very few times a year, if that.

Some by Mii is fantastic for my aging skin & occasional persistent face or body pimple (nasty ichthammol is still #1 for carbuncles tho). I'm a pretty specific demographic but I've never had any issues, stinging, etc, they are packaged very wisely (k beauty FTW again!), the price is great & no irritation of any kind. 1-3 days for healing to complete. Put anti chafing Gel over them if you need an inner thigh or one that your pants run on. Works great for the most embarrassing & uncomfortable spots!

My first base was what would appear as a thick pillow base. We lightly laid our fingers over the color and gently tapped it on our faces. I am very fair and neutral so my correct shade was available. My friends were not all that lucky. Very few colors available then. We also brought the base down our necks and blended like crazy. Not that, It was called blending and there was no shading after blush. Now I am 73 and still trying to keep up! Love both you and your twin…together the two of you are so funny!

I also think the ability to choose colors and use them to accessorize does wonders for the kids with zits and normalizes them, lessening the reasons for bullying, or at least that’s what I’ve witnessed in practice while working in an elementary-middle school setting.

My skin doesn’t handle healing well and I’m very prone to scarring- hydrocolloid keeps the damaged skin moisturized and soft while it heals. They’re extremely cute and they can hold around curves better than the round patches, so they definitely help keep hands off, but I don’t think they help spots heal faster for any other reasons. i completely agree with you about the starface!!! i absolutely love them, i have so many (i wish the blue salicylic ones came in better colors) but they absolutely are not the best pimple patches on the market. if i actually need a true strong patch for a cyst, ill go for a heartier brand, but if i need to be seen in any, ill go with the stars. i will say im happy that more people are wearing the stars out and about these days and have kind of normalized them so i feel less stupid when seen wearing them in public!!!

Thank you for saving me from buying that L'oreal setting spray! I'm oily/mature (42) and that shiny lacquer would be a NIGHTMARE!

Watching this immediately after the Welsh Twins video that the "setting spray" was in is perfect timing! L'Oreal just wanted to repackage their hairspray, for sure.

Teen girls wear the star stickers as almost accessories now. So I love that you’re horrified at being seen in them 😂

Good to know about the beauty and the beast pallet, it’s almost like the second Sailor Moon palette where they stuck colors that don’t fit the series. It’s like they don’t hired that main people are really into them to give them ideas on how to do the pallets. Since you talked about, they’re sleeping beauty collection was amazing since they matched the colors correctly to the idea of how the cell animation looked in the movie, as in very soft and very bright. Almost like airbrushed away. I meant Besame.

As an Elnett hairspray user, I am deeply offended!🤣😂 Never on the face, though - that would be a sticky nightmare! So scary about the plumping product. I'm glad it resolved itself, though. 💗

THANK YOU for saying this about the Starface patches! I find they do nothing, and the ones from Truly are the same. The brand I would recommend to anyone is Peach Slices! Always worth popping in my Ulta bag when I’m looking to boost my purchase to qualify for a coupon or free gift. I especially love their dark spot microdart ones! Thank you, affordable k-beauty

@RobertWelsh, the whole setting spray bit reminded me of the fact I've been meaning to ask you something. Due to an illness (my temperature centre no longer works properly), and hormonal issues, I'll sweat at pretty low temperatures nowadays. As soon as it's 16°C with a bit of sun, my body thinks we're having tropical weather, and I'll start sweating. The lower temps have that sweaty sheen and the smaller sweaty droplets on chin and lip. The higher the temp, the more I get actual dripping on my face 😢. My body breaks down after 23 degrees (and then it'll look as if I'm standing under the shower. It's horrendous), and then I'll be very ill, but I would love to still get outside until that happens and feel pretty. I've been trying pretty much every setting spray that says "sweat proof" under the sun, and had particularly high hopes for the TirTir Cooling one that's specifically meant for summer, to decrease your skin temperature and battle sweat. No luck with that one either. Used it Saturday when going shopping, but alas, my experiment with all new asian brands resulting in beautiful makeup* was gone after 1.5hrs because of all the tissue dabbing I had had to undertake. I was super careful, but with a low coverage base, sweat will ruin it fast AF. If you have ANY tip that might help me keep my makeup in order for a few hours, I'd be delighted! I'm not oily. I actually have Sahara dry skin, which is why I stayed away from powder. But this sweat is killing me and making me look disgusting 🫣. • • (*TIP: If you're like me and you like a more natural makeup, just because or due to dry and/ or mature skin, hear me out: I think I've finally found a foundation I'm willing to use more often if I can figure out the solution for the sweat. I used the silver TirTir, which has a more satiny finish on dry skin with a minor, minor glow and is low coverage. It's more of a tinted moisturiser/hydrating BB cream/skin tint idea without the dewiness of the white TirTir one (I want to buy that one for winter! ). I could still see my freckles in a muted form, but all my discolouration and redness were gone, and my skin looked much more even. I think if I use a glowy base underneath, like all those Flawless filter type liquids, or use my Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Moist Sun Serum which is VERY 'moist', it'll become a very dewy looking base. For summer, that's a no-go, especially because of the sweating. Anyway, the 17C is a perfect match for my quite fair skin. Tapped it on my neck, and you couldn't even see it there!😮 As a reference, I use the Nude Ivory in Wet & Wild Photofocus Dewy foundation, which is relatively close, but still a bit too dark and certainly too peachy-pink (it'll suit my face in summer with some colour more, but not my neck). The TirTir matches my neck perfectly at this time. I did have to go in several times with the sponge because of the low coverage, but maybe I need to press harder because I barely get anything on the sponge anyway. Another new, great find>>I very lightly tapped (a new experiment) the CanMake cream cheek blush in Almond Terracotta (#16) with my finger above the line where the nose ends - no bronzer because of the brown blush - and tapped the Holika Holika butter stick highlighter on the high points of my cheek and a tiny bit on the nose bridge. Amazing find, that stick: gives a gorgeous 'glowy from within' natural shine on your cheekbones. It still has a tiny bit of a champagne-y colour, but zero glitter, obvious shimmer, or visibility from the moon. It also doesn't highlight texture, is buildable, and is super easy to use. Both looked so natural and blended into the skin perfectly without being sticky. As a pale woman I need to tap my finger very softly & only thrice in the blush compact to get great effect, so despite the small amount, I think those CanMake blushes will last me a long time (I also bought a fire engine red #CL10 Clear Red Heart after I saw the owner of RMS beauty advise everyone to buy red blush as it looks great and natural as a true flush on every skintone: she's right! Both shades will also look great on medium and deeper skintones. On Yesstyle, they're currently €9.60). Finished my look with a pinkish nude lip and a layer of brown-burgundy mascara. I was honestly gobsmacked about the result. It looked like I was barely wearing any makeup, despite the almost full face, but I did look fresh and healthy... and 5 years younger! As my chronical illnesses have had a devastating effect on my skin - my 73yo mom has less wrinkles and texture + still fuller lips than I do - and going out without any makeup always results in an "Wow, you're not doing so great at the moment, aren't ya?", that was almost tears of joy-worthy! I hope anyone reading this got something out of the tips!)

Hi Robert! Two off-topic things (but the algorithm will never know). 1 - I got the TirTir Mask Fit Red Cushion on your rec and oh my goddy god, you were right, it is _perfection_ And 2 - I love that top, I need it, can you share the brand/where you got it so I might shamelessly copy you? Love your work, thank you for both the info and the smiles you give to us!
