Algorithm blessed me today, just binged the rest of the playlist. Always thinking about what it would take to convert one of these cars, as expected it seems like a lot of work and tight fits! At least its a 2+2 though, the 2 seater would probably be a nightmare to fit everything. I believe this was the first car nissan designed entirely using CAD, and it shows! Great to see someone tackle the AC issue. It one of the remaining items I need to complete in my cars. It would be great not be limited to only driving them October thru March. The 3d printing of the brackets is brilliant. I need to design some new brackets to fit dual chargers in one of my cars it going to be a complicated bracket I will have to try the 3d printing. How did you decide the compressor capacity? I see how the vibration isolators would work on your first bracket, the compressor mounted on tray which is sitting on the four isolators mounted the new bracket. I'm not seeing how they could work on the second. It looks like a thru bolt, even a rubber sleeve will not give you much isolation. Isolators are generally under compression. They don't have much shear strength. If the tray mount will fit in the bracket you could add some angle brackets to pick out those isolator locations on the tray.

Where did you purchase the orange HV shielded wire from? That small gauge EV wire is very hard to source and I need to find a supplier for some of my projects. Also a tip: I noticed your large wire spools were 600V wire. 600V rated wire like UL1015 is great to use where you can due to the thicker insulation for increased abrasion resistance, however 300V rated wire like UL1007 has thinner insulation and is handy where you need a smaller OD wire diameter in order to fit into some smaller electrical connectors.

Thanks! I also can never bring myself to do stitch welds. Also, are you able to provide a link to this AC compressor's product page? Unfortunately, many of the electric AC compressors on the market use 12 VDC. One of my Ford Ranger EVs came with the factory HVAC compressor, but the other was shipped without AC. If this HVAC compressor can accept 400 VDC, it would be a great option for adding AC (or even as a possibly more efficient replacement compressor for the stock AC unit).

Really cool retro fit. Do they also make a heat pump? Get heating and cooling from one system.
@casemodder89
3 күн бұрын
the heating is a be meh tho on a heatpump. not much more then 40°C output. while coolant provides 90°C water and maybe 85 after losses to supply air. defrosting windows at 80+ degrees C is a whole diffrent story then at 40. furthermore can you dry the supply air by using the AC and then heat it up from the coolant on a combustion engine. THAT gets the windows dry and defogged properly.
@eslmatt811

@@casemodder89 my understanding is that Tesla does the heat pump, possibly at certain temperatures. I think I saw it on the Monro channel. Yes, running the AC is certainly the way to defrost, I was confused about why my civic turned the AC on with the defrost, but wow did it work.
