Birds of a feather makes me want to skip holding hands with a romantic partner through a field of daisies. All the songs are so good in their own way and I'm glad you're listening to them in order, but I can't wait until you get to the Diner. You guys are gong to love it, I'm so ready, it's probably the coolest most creative song on the album.

In my opinion, this song is about her relationship with Finneas. As long as they’ve been in the spotlight, they’ve talked so highly of each others talents. (“I wish you could see how you look to me. You wouldn’t believe if I told you. You would keep the compliments I throw you.”) In particular, the delivery of the line “You’re so full of shit” feels like something you’d say to a sibling. They’ve also talked in interviews recently that the creation of this album was very trying for them both. During a fight Finneas told Billie that he didn’t even want to write music anymore (“Say you want to quit, don’t be stupid”). She has also talked about Finneas feeling like a soul mate in a way and knowing her better than anyone in the world. I love the idea of Billie writing these lyrics about her big brother and this song coming together so beautifully as they gained their creative momentum.

I found this song today, last night to be exact and I haven't been able to stop listening to it cause it just hits deep, to me it sounds like a love confession to someone who suffers from depression and doesn't want to be alive nor believes anybody can love them, so its like a plea to stay, to see how much the person is loved and to please believe it and just don't quit and stay. I listen to this song and I can imagine someone saying this words to me, and it just hits home. I didn't know billie and her sound or music at all until last night and I became an instant fan.

I felt like this is about Finneas, her brother… I think she talks about a few different relationships on this album…. There’s the bi-love for a girl, the guy she chased after but didn’t love her back, her brother, her stalker, herself…. Of course, that is just one layer… multiple and personal meanings are what she wants…she doesn’t want you to relate it to her, but more to yourself. I like the thought that it is about Finneas and herself…. Birds of a Feather.

The simple “hmm” after each frame in the second verse is SO powerful and necessary. I honestly think tbere’s so many twists and turns in this song. There isn’t even a verse, chorus, verse pattern that was needed and there was no need for a bridge either. It’s absolutely genius and Fineas deserves so much praise for this, as does Billie, but we all know she’ll get hers as always.

I really love this song. It sounds so sweet but it has a bit of a sadness to it also. Like she’s talking about wanting to love this person forever but she keeps implying that she’s dying soon(“it might not be long”). I’m not sure if it’s because of her mental health and she just doesn’t think she is gonna live that long or if she is just using it as a metaphor but I really connect with it. I have always felt that I was going to die young (even as a very small child) I would talk about my funeral in a matter of fact way and mention my parents and grandparents being there, it wasn’t a far off time, it was soon. I even made a playlist for it as a kid. I was terrified of death (and anything even mildly scary death related) so it wasn’t like I just liked spooky caskets and things or anything. People used to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I would just be like “oh it doesn’t really matter cause I’m not gonna grow up”. It didn’t even seem weird to me, just like something I was born knowing. It just seemed like the next logical step &that would be happening soon. I thought eventually I would grow out of it but I never did. I’m less young now, but still young (late twenties) and I really don’t think I’ll make it to 40 and I don’t know why. I just KNOW. Something deep in me knows. This song makes me think of that and I wonder if Billie feels the same way…probably not and I’ve just totally projected all my weird thoughts into the song but you never know lol

And for the O'Connell clan that's Billie and Maggie over the years.

You said you want to know who it's referring to. It's about Matthew Tyler Vorce; Written while they were still together. Unfortunately, evidence is STRONG that he ended up cheating on her. The next song on the album, L'amour de la Vie, is also about him; Written, of course, after they broke up. At the end of that one, the lyrics say "Caught on camera, the girl's on camera." Referencing the woman he is believed to have cheated on her with. In the extended cut of the end of L'amour, she gives a bit more context into the other side of their relationship, painting a more full picture of her experience of craving the love and admiration she gave him to be reciprocated with the same amount of passion, but never *quite* getting it from him. As you can imagine, that will really wear a person down over time, thus her song "The Greatest" was born. He's also a partial inspiration for the track "Blue", alongside Jesse Rutherford, whom she also dated after Tyler. Jesse's the person she references in "Wildflower". She's disecting her envy and guilt regarding his ex girlfriend Devon, who is a co-founder of Wildflower Cases and is also friends with Billie. It's all about her processing the feelings she had when crossing the line into sort of that 'breaking girl code' territory.
