So, I worked at a Radisson for a few years in the pastry department. Your complementary breakfast consists of pre-made place-and-bake frozen mini-danishes, and it looks like they didn't even bake them properly for how deflated they are, nor did they do anything to finish them (which even at a business-class hotel that was on its way out, we dressed these up with glazed fresh fruit and/or icing drizzles and chopped toasted nuts when we used them in the morning buffet because they're so sad as they are). A box of 120 pieces runs about $80 USD these days so your plate of pastries at most probably cost them about $6.50 USD to produce, including the berries, the muffin liner, and the (very minimal) labor involved.

Yes! Like if you're going to NYC for anything, tack on an extra day to Buffalo and drive over to spend exactly one day at the falls. It's incredible, and taking one of the boat rides was a highlight of our year (and totally reasonable at like $20 each). It's a stunning sight that makes for a great day with a boat ride and afternoon stroll along the boardwalk, capped by fireworks in the evening. More than one day would be a stretch, and don't expect anything from the town.

People who say the government shouldn’t be allowed to create these parks have a sense of entitlement that makes them think that the private sector should be allowed to Fleece people for everything they can get out of them. Hilton is one such example. They’ve been allowing this hotel to fall into complete disrepair based on the fact that people will still show up at their doorstep based off a company reputation that no longer should apply. This should have been called Hotel 5 by Hilton.

Seeing that the casinos in Niagara Falls (I worked at both) have their fair share of people losing huge amounts of money, a lot of people become despondent and tend to "unalive" themselves by jumping. Balcony (and whole room there in fact) was locked off. And the hotel wasn’t too helpful with offering any fixed, or any Keurig pods. We got it as a day-of paid upgrade, which was fun and fine value. Tried to get a different room and they didn’t have any available, so we had to change hotels. They were not going to refund our money. We ended up having to stay at the super 8 motel as no other hotels had any rooms available at such short notice. They charged us for both nights and we didn’t even stay there one night! I grew up in WNY, only an hour's drive from Niagara Falls. My wife & I actually stayed at the Hilton in NF, Ontario for our honeymoon on "SED" (somebody else's dollar, in that case my sister's). We didn't stay in the presidential suite, but she did get us the honeymoon suite, which had some nicer features like a large jacuzzi tub and a view of the falls. We decided to try Brasa, having never tried a Brazilian steakhouse before. We both thought the food was exceptional, but it did take some getting used to how they served it. I suspect that may have been a big reason for the lower rating. If you're not familiar with a Brazilian steakhouse, you don't order just one cut of meat like at a regular steakhouse. Instead the waiters walk around with various meats that have a sword running through them like a skewer. You're given a card when seated that has a green side and a red side. If the green side is facing up, the waiters will stop and tell you what meat they're carrying. If you want to try it, they'll use the sword to cut you off a piece right there and put it on your plate, and then continue on. If the red side of the card is facing up, they'll just skip your spot. Then there's also a buffet that acts like a traditional buffet. Overall I thought our stay at the Hilton in Niagara Falls was decent enough, though to be fair it was our honeymoon and paying attention to the small details of the room or the food wasn't quite the top of our priorities.

Niagara Falls is what happens when you let the private sector or for profit corporations take over the developpement of a "city" or a neighborhood. Everything is either overpriced or cheap tourists traps or developped with profits in mind. As for the Hilton, just like many other big hotel chains, renovations are almost always done a few rooms at the time and mostly for cosmetic reasons (fresh paint, updated furnitures, etc.), they rarely fix issues if they don't affect the hotel's revenues. Went to one of those "revamped" rooms at the Delta in Quebec city, it was bad : New beds, new furniture, old yellow wallpaper and a bathroom with mold stains. Worst part, they were advertising those rooms as being completely renovated.

The tall hotels block wind which degrades the falls views for everyone because the excessive stagnant mist.

We were there last February 2024 and I noticed that it looked extremely dead. My waiter told me that since they opened up the new casino in Woodbine everyone goes there now. It’s a lot cheaper there than paying the ridiculous prices that Niagara Falls charges. Plus their fake Niagara Falls tax.

Haha I guess I'm not well-calibrated on Hilton pricing, because I was prepared to hear that the room was $5k+ per night.

This had me laughing like a loon! I live in the area and once upon a time 20+ years ago worked for an agency babysitting in the hotels. I was in an elevator at the Hilton when the 2003 blackout hit. (Thankful for the generators!) None of the hotels are worth it. Id day, pick your favourite brand and cross your fingers. If i had to stay anywhere, itd be at the casino.

Oh HELL NO!! $1,500 for what? The price should include parking, breakfast, lunch, dinner, back and feet rub and MORE. This place gets a 0 out of 50. This is insane!!!

The hotel use to have a water slide up a few years ago.. before it got renovated.. oh yeah you can park at the casino for free too as long as you have a players card.. and it’s a parking ramp so more than enough spaces

@0:05 - There was always the crappy amusement park on Grand Island where I lived for a bit. Mostly we went to Canadas Wonderland though.

No matter what part of the world, any Hilton brand hotel I've stayed at (never by choice) has been the penultimate in mediocrity.

Great video, Jake! That room was ridiculous. I would love to see you team up with the Podcast: The Ride guys one day to do an episode about Niagara Falls in general, or perhaps even the Margaritaville cruise, since one of the hosts is a die-hard Jimmy Buffett fan!

I used to work here many years ago in housekeeping. It's been a long time and I still have nightmares about it 😂 I was never special enough to clean this room, but I know back then, they went all out to make that room pristine. We had room inspections before VIP guests arrived and a speck of dust would have failed you. It seems like this hotel has fallen from grace if the presidential suite is in this kind of shape... but I am not surprised. Cost cutting and price gouging to maximize profits at the expense of tourists and low-wage staff is the backbone of the whole city unfortunately.
