Hi Guys, There is a song called 'Trains and Boats and Planes' sung by Dionne Warwick. Well, two out of 3 ain't bad. The train trip was great. All that steam. It was also good to see the North Sea swimming Gala!. It's an interesting point about the sea breeze and land breeze, your breeze looked like a breeze from the sea to the land, since it was from the land, west of you, giving the higher temperature and therefor the directional flow from east to west.......but maybe I mistook the sails fill. Happy sailing, looking forward to the next episode, David

The trip on the train was the highlight of our day in South Shields because we are kids at heart lol. We were surprised by how warm the cold North sea felt, probably our wetsuits. I think you're right about the breeze David 👍. I'll take a look at that song on KZitem

During warm weather the land heats up quicker than water and as warm air rises it causes the cooler air over the water to replace it so creating a sea breeze. The reverse happens at night causing a land breeze

Well, that was a nice little travelogue of South Shields, I just love those mini railway trains, took a ride on one in Leighton Buzzard, back in the day, great fun. Regarding those winds, I think they maybe called Katabatic Winds, the wind warms up over the land, the tumbles down toward and over, the sea. They can be quite violent in some parts of the globe. You Guys do crack me up, when there's not much going on, the camera turns onto one of you, which in turn makes you bashful, and that's the recipe for one of your classic one liners eg, "what shall we have for tea, Codlings !!!!" says Adam then he answers his own question "oh no, Luke threw it back, it was too small" 🤣🤣 I was sure you were both gonna say" CHEESE ON TOAST but alas yer didn't. Great entertainment, kind regards, Barnacle Bern SY Cadbri SW Wales ⛵😎😎👍👍

Nice video as per normal, you are both so confident behind the camera and in front of it now. Just a thought on swimming in a tide, stick a floating line out the stern with a large bowline on it and maybe a float at the end so that anyone who gets tired and can't swim against the tide has somewhere to stop! we used to do this in the Solent and it works well, gives swimmers a chance for a rest.

I think it's the other way round, as the land heats up more than the sea the air rises and draws wind off the sea making an onshore breeze. Can't explain your off shore breeze here
@karendunn4140

You are correct. Additionally, due to geo strophic effects, the winds tend to parallel the coast as they mature.

The Wind you were experiencing is due to the water and the Temperature differences the water was warmer so the heat released caused an OFF Shore Breeze which is normally at night due to the land cooling down quicker but your water that day was warmer than the land
