Hi!
In this video I show you how I finished my oldest UFO (unfinished object) which was nearly 9 years old!
This beautiful colourwork blanket got a new lease of life when I finished it during lockdown. A busy brain requires busy hands. Stranded knitting (not the same as Fair Isle) is knit as a tube to avoid purling on the wrong sides. The to turn it into a blanket it has to be cut down a channel of stitches known as a steek. A most terrifying technique!
If you feel like this doesn't interest you as a sewer, au-contraire my friends. Think of it this way, if you find throws or jumpers in the thrift/charity shop that you think might make a better baby blanket or bomber jacket, you can use similar techniques. Just sew to stabilise and get cutting!
I backed the blanket with some snuggly jersey and used a self-binding method for a neat finish and mitred corners. You could use this method on a quilted or minky blanket too. Lovely and snuggly.
