It's funny how setting scan limits for the CITV is easier on the real vehicle than in the game. I'm so happy as a former Abrams Tanker that I can still play around with my favorite MBT.

Thanks! If you are looking for the military equivalent of a dictionary, check out ADRP 1-02. It has definitions of just about every US-based doctrinal term you could ever want to know.

Online play is the best part of Steel Beasts for sure! If you want, check out the Kanium VU on the forums; we play every Sunday. Also, if you have questions or want to play a smaller session, I am on Steam (info is in the description.)

Best way to learn is to join the fray and take a tank/IFv for a ride. There are some very good players with us that can give tips/tricks and feedback ...I short: Don't wait come in :-)

Great video, I was wondering how you would rate the AI in this game? It seemed to me that you didn't take any incoming fire until the 30 minute mark and I wondered if this was down to poor AI scripting or an accurate simulation of spotting ability of the hardware/forces you were up against. I also noticed that the infantry you were machine gunning were just sitting there waiting to get hit rather than trying to go prone, seek better cover or just run away. I don't own this game but I'm thinking about getting it, I just need some help to find out a bit more about the AI behaviour. Thanks.

Honestly, the AI is pretty good in my opinion. I deliberately picked an axis of advance that slowed movement, but was less likely to be observed by the enemy. Also, the M1A2's optics are the best out of all the playable vehicles, and gave me a great advantage over the enemy's T-80s and BMP-2s. A lot of the AI's behavior is also based on how they have been scripted in the scenario. For a very good example of this, see the video here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/mqSlqWtojpaGmKgm51s Basically, the enemy was hidden behind some dead-space, and was able to ambush my buddy Apocalypse and I. This was programmed in by the scenario designer. The infantry in this video were likely not given additional waypoints, or triggers on what to do if they were engaged with direct fire. The bottom line is that a lot of how the AI behaves is based on how much time and effort the scenario designer puts into giving them different waypoints, triggers, etc.

Hi. I have experience with 2.584 version (this-one just before 3.0) and I must say AI is good but... you need to give precise orders. There is no such thing like self-taken decisions about flanking, retreating or calling arty support. The magic is about performing previously taken orders placed in scenerio map of mission editor. If you want to create attack vector you must place every waypoint for actions such as unload troops, tight/loose formation, smoke screen etc. AI won't do this without previously placed order. But if you encounter enemy tanks and firefight will start there is big chance you'll be destroyed if not engage properly. Some behaviour patterns give AI possibility to create smoke screens or riding forward and backward to change position during clashes. If other behaviour pattern will be set for this engagement AI tank might just rush toward you and fire during movement. Other other behaviour pattern might make enemy tankers completely careless and confident about current situation safety- they won't detect you as long as you won't fire at them. It's good for convoy attack scenerios. Look at Steel Beasts mission makers videos and see what I mean. It's really simple. AI missing as much as real men can miss you.

i also still have the older 2.654 and the AI can be quite ruthless i must say, you need to find them quick as possible in all my experiences - death comes pretty quickly and pretty often for any sloppiness on my part

@@Lo-tf6qt Don't mention it! Also, don't feel that you need to purchase the unlimited license. I highly encourage spending $9.50 on the one month license to see if Steel Beasts is a program that you are interested in.

It is $125 for the unlimited license. You can also buy a time-based license for $9.50 for one month, $24.50 for three months, or $39.50 for one year. I've been playing this game since 2012, so the unlimited license make sense. I imagine the majority of players would be perfectly content with a time-based license.

Well worth the 125 if you ask me. The support from the developers is great. I bought it way back when it first came out, lots of improvements made since it first started, and lot more playable vehicles.
