Same here not watched regular TV for a long time now. This year has been really busy for us here at bexbugoutsurvivor, so we have 18 months of filmed features in the can waiting to go. Nightmare for continuity edit, as Ive lost over 12 kilos since. Take it easy bud...Bex

usually i place my bottle in the fire, if i would have to guess, i would have assumed hanging is more effective, but it just shows ... never assume. If its slower to boil, maybe that's why hanging a billy can to cook food was generally the traditional way of doing things on an open fire.

Thats a good analysis, hanging for a slower cook, (rabbit on a spit) etc, and a cabin fire for a quick boil, perhaps. I use to place a BCB steel cup on the coals, but the fire was established. 1 litre about 9 mins from scratch, not too shabby I guess...Many thanks Bex

Like fire? Then you got a treat next year, when I went out to film the easiest fire lays for survival. Many techniques can be used to make a fire lay, nearly all are redundant if its an emergency, and a person is cold and wet, say. SF have a saying, "KISS"=( keep, it,simple,stupid.) A moto I always use when deploying a fire lay...All the best Bex

Like the gloves idea. Easy to transport on the webbing belt too, I shall claim that idea as my own now, Lols. On reflection im torn between Nalgene and kelly kettle. But I often use the steel Nalgene as a sleeping bag warmer, in the sock of course...Bex

Had the Nalgene over a year or so now, and is pretty bomb proof, not one scratch or dent on it. Can't remember where I got it from. Will research some old recipts, and get back to you...Bex

I love your cabin technique!👍🏼 Question for us Americans: Although not the right shape, will the Nalgene fit inside the Crusader cup and/or the Crusader stove (new and old)? Thanks!
@bexbugoutsurvivor

No mate, the crusader is a slim kidney shaped cup (both sets), and the nalgene is far wider than is apepars on screen. However watch an episode I made called H20 POUCH, CRUSADER REPLACEMENT COOK SET ? bexbugoutsurvivor its nested with the Glasier cup, and cat stove, will worth a peek..,Bex kzitem.info/news/bejne/2neftqWPjJuoinY

I’ve actually seen that video 👍🏼 I’m interested in the Crusader fo the side pocket of my ULA backpack. A kidney shaped cook set or a Trangia (sideways) would fit better. I have a 58 pattern NATO bottle but it’s way too heavy. Is there a lighter substitute for that maybe that would fit the Crusader?

@@stevesummersell_K4WXX I recall the US Marine corps bottle being a similar shape, and is a hell of a lot lighter, but with water weighing a kilo per litre, you might be better off with the water in a camelbak, attatched to the ULA if your s is the model with the side shock cords, tie downs, then the tranny stove and fuel inside the BCB crusader cups. In the UK we kept the black BCB cup, used the reclangle mess tin, and water in a camelbak. I filmed an episode dedicated to different water/canteen sets, ans will try get it out before Chriatmas if were not to busy...Bex
