Quick tip: you can remove the hidden or overlooked 'leavings' (steel wool dust & fragments) by running a magnet over the general use area. It's STEEL; magnets will remove it better than anything else and avoid the teensy bits falling or mashing into crevices or impaling soft surfaces. It's then a lot easier to wipe off the hard surface of the magnet with a damp towel or tissue and then toss it in the trash. Um... Automobile glass...isn't it coated with some sort of polymer or treating substance? Won't steel wool also take off or wear down the coating? Steel wool does an excellent job removing rust from metal objects, like knives and cooking pots. But when you 'buff', do so gently and in a circular motion. if you rub in a simple back & forth motion, you will change how the metal object reflects light. The action of linear rubbing will cause a bright spot where you rubbed, which will differ from the subdued random reflection elsewhere on the object. Circular buffing will randomize the scratchings and the area being cleaned will blend in and not stand out from the rest of the item's surfaces. Scuff marks or crayons on floors or other impenetrable surfaces (like tile) are more easily and more quickly removed by using a little WD-40 on a paper towel. Don't use WD-40 on anything absorbent, like wallpaper or drywall, as it will leave grease stains impossible to remove.

Miss mart pants - and - if you have a C-cell battery (that’s what we used some 50 years ago, or so) (maybe a AA-size battery would also work) and you hold a chunk of this size steel wool and stretch it from one end of the battery to the other, touching both ends at the same time, it will catch on fire. That way you don’t need matches and the battery works even in the rain. Try it and see. You’ll be amazed! 👵🏻🐾💕🇨🇦

It costs very little. Don't ever re-use it. You might think you've prevented rust but you haven't. I use it every day as a window cleaner and can tell you that within 20 minutes the rust has formed inside the pad. You might not see it but it's there. Steel wool is all surface area so it rusts incredibly easy. Run water through it and the water will come out rust colors. This happens sometimes within 5 minutes of first getting it wet. I recommend you buy bronze wool. Bronze wool can be used over and over again; doesn't leave shavings and is actually a tiny bit less abrasive with same cleaning power.

If you ever want to clean grease off of anything use the s.o.s steel wool pads with the blue stuff or the brilo pink ones
