Lyrics don't seem to be anywhere online, so: I remember very well the day you came in town The music played like a holiday and we thought we'd never come down It's been like a ghost town since you left for parts unknown How could you stand to take your bags in hand and leave us alone? The train don't never come on time When you're away the sun don't wanna shine Some day I'm gonna make you mine Sakka Joweda, my friend When you gonna come back and see us again? We waited so long You can't do no wrong Sing your song Every day the gas man would leave flowers at your door And we all knew it was because of you that he joined the Army Air Corps When you danced at Randy's bar the band would swing like ne'er(?) And all they do now is play the blues now, they've got it real bad This time we'll never be the same I wish I never seen the day you came And every night I call your name Sakka Joweda, my friend When you gonna come back and see us again? We waited so long You can't do no wrong Sing your song (Instrumental Break) This time we'll never be the same I wish I never seen the day you came And every night I call your name Sakka Joweda, my friend When you gonna come back and see us again? We waited so long You can't do no wrong Sing your song Sing your song Sing your song Sing your song Sing your song [That was really good!]

This sounds really good Miguel so well done with the re-mastering. It definitely sounds like it is of the Can't Buy a Thrill time. In fact the black and white image above is a part of the CBAT cover. It's always nice to hear a new Steely Dan song. Thanks for posting.

Im hearing bits and pieces of ideas/chord changes/vocal Melodie’s etc. of.midnight cruiser, barrytown and one or two more early ones that I can’t quite put my finger on. Love me some Steely Dan! And I love how Don’s younger voice is so full sounding. I haven’t found anything confirms this, but I think he had a nose job before Aja was recorded. His voice is noticeably more nasal. He makes a remark to this effect on the Aja doc.

Guitar riff under Fagen saying "Sakka Joweda" has sort of a Bowie / Bolan / May quality to it. I dig it. Early Dan is a lot more "of the times" than their later stuff when they really carve out their own jazz-rock niche.

It never got a release , it's a demo , enjoyable to hear the band and individual players and pick out certain elements of the song that ended up in presumably later compositions the guys didnt like it enough to develop it further so you're not alone in not caring too much for it.
