Stella O’Malley is a psychotherapist, bestselling author, public speaker, and parent.
Specialising in working with parents and young people, Stella has written several books: Cotton Wool Kids (2015), Bully-Proof Kids (2017), Fragile (2019), What Your Teen Is Trying To Tell You (2023) as well as co-authoring When Kids Say They're Trans (2023) along with fellow therapists, Sasha Ayad and Lisa Marchiano.
As a child Stella experienced gender-related distress for many years and explored these experiences in the 2018 Channel 4 documentary Trans Kids: It’s time to talk. Stella is the founder and Executive Director of Genspect, an international organisation that advocates for a healthy approach to sex and gender. She is also the founder-director of the Gender Dysphoria Support Network, a support network that offers online support meetings to families of individuals affected by gender dysphoria. She is a clinical advisor for the Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender, and a founding member of Thoughtful Therapists.
