That's a lot of carving out stencils but it sure looks worth it in the end. Bravo!

Thank you very much! It is worth spending time building up a collection of stencils to use in various projects. You could also try using the ready made stencils available.

It's amazing what you can find to use as stencils with no need for cutting.

What a super idea Dan -- totally looks like a screen print with a fraction of the work involved -- definitely something to experiment with, thanks as always for the gracious inspiration ❤

Always enjoy watching you play and experiment. I dont understand how the stencils stayed down and didn't fly all over the place when you started spraying. Keep creating 👍

Good point! I suppose the weight of the card, also they had old oil paint on them which was still a bit tacky.

Impressive work, Dan. Looking at the finished piece, I feel quite an abundance of creativity; the sheer number of varied designs is satusfying to see. Also, you got my mind racing and all the different compositional opportunities that come with such a big collection of small stencils. I'm eager to try this myself and see what else you come up with. Thanks for the inspiration. Also, I noticed you were using Montana spray paints. Did you know they have a water-based line of paints that forego the noxious chemicals? They are safe to use inside and in my experience work just as well as the original line (and in some cases better, like in sketchbooks). The line is definitely geared towards artists already knowledgeable of pigments, with cans named Ultramarine, Quinacridone Magenta, Azo Yellow, and Raw Umber. Cheers

Thanks very much for the feedback, it's really appreciated. This is such a great technique to play around with and because I had these stencils from a previous project, it seemed like a good way to experiment with them, it's very satisfying seeing the results. I was interested in the water based paints you mentioned and I will definitely give them a try. I've always used the Montana Gold range but like you say the fumes are a downside.
