This is the first video of a serie that summarizes the contents produced by RetaiLink, an URBACT Action Planning Network. We are 10 medium-sized cities from different countries in Europe that share experiences and knowledge to revitalise retail and shopping in our city.
RetaiLink is an URBACT project that involves the cities of Igualada (Spain), Bistrita (Romania), Hoogeveen (the Netherlands), Pécs (Hungary), Sibénik (Croatia), Romans (France), Hengelo (the Netherlands), Fermo (Italy), Basingstoke (UK) and Liberec (Czech Republic).

SCRIPT:
All cities have their streets, shops, commercial areas,
A city is where people live, people shop…
Oh! It seems you have a problem
You have hardly any people in your streets!!
You must have forgotten about the consumer
You're losing your retail shops
It’s time to accept that you have a problem,
And it must be addressed.
OK. First. The most important part in retail are the consumers.
So you need to know who your actual customers are…and (importantly) who your potential consumers are.
You can find this out by doing surveys. That will tell you who your consumers are, how they live, what their needs and preferences are.
This will help you come up with and integrated strategy to transform your city.
If you put the consumer first, you’ll see how your streets come alive, with more shops…
And you will be a really happy city.
