Luka needs to come into next season in better shape. He had one of the greatest post seasons by a solo superstar ever, but his conditioning is what killed him. I truly believe the reason he misses as much as he does (which isn't even that bad in terms of FG%), is because he gets gassed and tired. On the defensive end, he's quite smart. He's a really underrated post defender and can make the read pretty nicely to go for steals. The issue is when he's put on an island and taken iso. He's too slow and even if he tries funneling them at an angle towards the rim, they have no interior defender that comes to help. With conditioning, he'd improve with staying in front of his man and since he's a smart defender already, he could actually make for a pretty decent one. Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, John Stockton, and Karl Malone are the players I think that have the defensive peak for Luka. Not the greatest on ball face up defenders, but make up for it by either being really good team defenders (Magic) , help side defenders (Stockton which is interesting for a guard), or really smart post defenders (Malone and Bird) that are serviceable on the face up.

I really believe if we add Tim we would have given us at least 15 a game these playoffs and that would have been much needed on days Dinwiddie or Brunson were struggling. I don’t think scoring is our main issue it’s our offensive system, rim protection and rebounds. Not denying we need more talent in the door but I would definitely like to seek Luka off ball a lot more and him move a lot more when he doesn’t have the ball in his hands. Maybe that’s something he will do if he gets in better shape this off season. And clearly the rebounds and rim protection have been an issue since Tyson left. We can look toward the draft for that or we can se if we can trade for a capela, gafford (optimal in my opinion) or turner.

I really hate this talk about Luka's fitness. His teammates going for 0/15 in game 3 and blowing a 19pt lead in game 2 had nothing to do with Luka not being in shape. Media's just looking for negatives. He can have Lebron's body next year and it still wouldn't matter if he's not surrounded with better players. His "lack of defense" is also exaggerated af.

So people who spent years watching Lebron and Giannis and praised them for the clearly UNMATCHED and UNIQUE physical attributes, are saying a Guy who is playing who is averaging 30+ mins on the court and is easily one of the most gifted players to play in the league, and constantly matches record statistics, is not in good shape? That is easily the most ridiculous line of argument I have ever come across in all my years of watching any form of sports commentary. Now I can understand people may want to be of the opinion, just off looking at the kid, that he's out of shape but his actual physical performances, should obvious tell you, you're wrong. Additionally, who he is being compared to, are UNIQUE.. Please remember that. thirdly, I am not saying, he cannot improve physically but saying "he is not in shape" is basically saying he's at a base level athletically, which is ridiculous... We don't even know the degree of work Luka does outside of practice lmao.. this is so farcical.
@Sheryl510

Use your senses to make decisions. If you watched game 5 you'da saw that Luka was not in physical shape to last 7 more games. He lost speed and agility while other players who are leaner kept the same defensive posture. Being a skilled and intelligent player still requires endurance to go the full 108 games if necessary. Your attempted correlation to his regular season performance is irrelevant.
