Then on the morning of the fight, physically and mentally depleted he has to stress about what it means for his future as a fighter, his team, and the fans if he pulls out. It's happened to him before and it's not safe for him to jump in there and fight a bigger guy who hasn't held up his end of the bargain and hasn't done the weight cut, especially at Wonderboy's age. Now he has to wait after all the sacrifices he's made and negotiate whether he gets paid or not. Many things very wrong with that system.

If making weight didn't make a difference there wouldn't be weight classes. Super bummed we didn't get a Wonderboy fight but I 100% agree with him. Those last 3-4 pounds are so tough (which is why these guys can't make it) if it's "just 3-4 pounds" why can't they lose it and make weight? Props to Wonderboy for taking care of himself.

@@ahmadabdeljabbar8375 wonderboy is fighting for legacy now not really money. So the money is not worth the risk of losing his ranking. This man signed and fulfilled his side of the contract, he was there and made weight and no one else COMPLETELY FULFILLED THEIR SIDE OF THE CONTRACT. He couldn't fight because another sign-y of the contract didnt fulfill which technically stops him from being able to fulfill his duties as signed. Pay this man.

If Stephen was one of those "I'll fight anyone at any weight" guys I'd be disappointed in him for not taking the fight anyway. But, Stephen has been nothing but the consumate professional and a class act his entire career. Never missed weight and never put a foot wrong in terms of professionalism. None of the suits within the UFC should be surprised at his decision and they should fully support his decision.

I feel Stephen strongly, when he goes into the unending altered-state hell of the weight cut sagas. And never, ever missed. Been there, the stories are inhuman, and by the way he was going into it, his words and that rationale is completely based in reality. Props, respect, support and honor on his name. 👍
