Helped a little bit? Omg wealth of information. Loved it, we have already completed two purges and wow we don’t miss any of that stuff. Even though we know we have some time in front of us still we are already in the mindset of will it fit in the rv. So till then we are doing everything we can to learn as much as we can.

I'm going back to the beginning of the video list and working through. I've watched several here and there, but nothing chronological. It's really great to watch how quickly the both of you warmed to the camera and became organically conversational. * Chuckle * Phil looked a bit uncomfortable on those first few videos. And then, bam! He was into it and chatty. ❤️ Great tips and encouragement, but with honesty! One of the things I enjoy the most is how authentic and relaxed you both are when addressing the audience.

Good video with great advice - especially about being debt free before going on the road full time. I'm glad to see Phil is throwing in his two cents more often - lol. But seriously, both of you bring a lot of good advice, suggestions, and even humor to the content you produce, which is quite refreshing. Keep doing what you are doing 'cuz it's working out well so far! Safe travels!

I won't be able to do 'shakedowns.' In order to get my rig, it will take selling the house to afford it, then, I'll have to rent back from the buyers for a month or two until I can get the rig in place. (I don't want to finance it and have that debt on the road. I'll be losing a mortgage payment--don't want to trade it for another!) ;-) At that point, I'll be full-on full time from the get-go. You offer a lot of good tips, and I've already begun the purging process. Budget? I never have one specifically written out; I'm just naturally very good at managing my money; a skill I've learned from never having been rich at any time in my life. ;)

Great advice....again! Thank You -- One thing that I haven't seen from all the videos that i am watching about "prepping" for full timers is make sure your teeth are in good health!!! I'm planning on leaving in May and I have a great dentist here --- As a previous world traveler, I have experienced tooth pain in remote places and it is NO fun!! So I am getting all my teeth checked and cleaned before I head out! Just saying.... ;)

Awesome video! We are huge Dave Ramsey fans and he has changed our whole outlook on life and money. We currently have our house up for sale and our new 5th wheel is sitting in the driveway waiting for us. We will not be traveling (yet), but will be staying in the same town we work in. We right now just want to be free from STUFF and a house that we don't even utilize half of and it is just the two of us (kids grown and gone!!). Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, guys. This was great. The two of you have become my favorite FTRV YT'ers! My husband and I are in our SECOND early planning stage, and we're thinking 2 to 2-1/2 years from now. We don't have a new RV yet but we'll be looking in the next year or so. There's so much to do (a house to clear, 2 garages) and I've started it. But I also just retired and the 2 years is waiting for my (slightly younger ;D) husband to catch up. He's working FT now, so there's that income still. He has his own little side business and he does REALLY WELL with that and we'll have that when we go. But the big question is: HOW DO YOU WAIT? For us, we have a plan worked out that's working for us. Since I'm newly retired, I dedicated different days of the week to the many different tasks in front of us. This is the only way I can stay focused or else my mind goes all around everything we need to do, and that just gets everything too jumbled up to accomplish any of it. On Mondays, I go through my files and determine what I'll need to keep in pdf format, and then scan, scan, scan! Anything we decide keep that won't actually go with us - including our paper files - we'll put in a cargo trailer we purchased that we'll park at my daughter's house for the time when we're done traveling. Every Tuesday is clearing-out day. I pick a room, start in one corner and move around the room, high and low, and back to the door - throwing things away, organizing what to sell, what to donate, and what to keep when we get an RV again. My worst room (my craft room) took 3 full Tuesdays! I practically had my own little store stocked up in that room, and holiday time is always hectic - things get pulled out, used (or not), and thrown to the side.... never actually put back away. So, your comment about NOT BUYING NEW STUFF really hit home with me. That's a super-critical point! I did frequent shoptainment for most of my life, semi-professional career, plenty of money. Now? I couldn't care less! I always shop now with that question foremost in mind: Is this something I'll use in the RV? Since we full-timed once before, and we know what tiny mobile living is all about, this part is really not hard for me now. But we had our reasons for buying a house again, and so we did that. And we filled it up with NEW STUFF. So while we know what we're getting into now, it's also a problem for us, because WE KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE ALREADY, and it IS freeing! It's hard because we're just really eager to get going again NOW, and we have to wait. Ugh. Every Wednesday is dedicated to researching different manufacturers and models of RVs, and associated things (domiciling, mail services, expenses, etc.). That's also when I watch your videos! :) A lot to consider. We have a very loose time frame we're working in. We know roughly when we want to do this or that, marching right up to our 2-years-from-now departure. I would say to anyone planning to full-time to not be hasty - don't get into something you're really unprepared for, and you don't know what you don't know! - but don't plan too far out either. Give yourself sufficient time to take care of everything you don't even realize you need to take care of, until you do. Thanks again, Phil and Stacy, for making great videos! They're fun, you're both very engaging as well as educated and informative, and I hope to meet up one day. Happy Trails! (Sorry this got so long!)

I am going back through your early videos. I am planning to go fulltime on my own (very scary) in less than 3 years, sooner if I can swing it. I am a science teacher and am getting to that point that retirement is starting to call my name. My little dog and I will be on the road in the fairly near future. Your videos are wonderful! I have found myself binging videos and then realizing I am and hour past bedtime with a full day of teaching science looming in the morning. Yikes! I am window shopping RVs and hoping that the one I have my heart set on will drop in price (COVID buyers selling off in a few years) to a much better deal...with the plus of someone else working out some of the bugs of a new RV. I live in a relatively small place now but I have expanded to fill every nook so now I am looking at the purge. I have started with my closet. I have several bags of very nice clothing to donate to my local charity. The hard part will be my sewing room. I love to sew and a sewing machine will travel with me but at the moment I have 4 of them and I have to wean myself off of three of them. Thanks for all your great information. Hope to run in to you sometime in the future on the road.

It is important to point out that all honorably discharged veterans have health care through the VA. All they have to do is sign up for it. I didn't know this while I was active duty. I thought the VA only covered service connected disabilities. This is not true. The VA covers EVERY honorably discharged veterans! The VA has medical centers and clinics in every corner of the US and some overseas. Each veterans cost/copays are different based on their status. If you are 50% or more service connected the VA covers 100% of all medical care including prescriptions. Check out the VA website for more information. VA is health care for life!

We are about to order the Tiffin 33aa Red. I have several concerns. First is the lack of kitchen counter space, have you found that there is nowhere to put a coffee maker or toaster etc? And secondly, we need workspace at the table, can two sit (each with a computer) at the table? I see you have the booth, which table style gives the most room and comfort for 2? Any other suggestions when ordering our rv? We are placing the order in the next few days. Did you order yours? Were you at Tiffin when it rolled off the assembly? Thanks, wish we could talk. :)

I just recently found you and I've been watching your videos in chronological order. Your videos are fun and informative and it looks like you're having a wonderful time. This particular video on how to RV full time has been the most informative and has answered most of my questions. I also have one question for you. I have a son that's serving active duty in the Navy and he's using our address here in Florida. Right now his driver's license has expired and he's on military extension for that, and also due to COVID-19, he is not able to come here to renew it, but when we sell the house, what does he need to do to be able to keep his Florida residency and not have to pay the higher state income tax rates for the state where he is stationed? I found your information about choosing the state of residency that you wish and paying that $95 fee to be able to have a street address in the state you want to stay registered in to be the most important point and was one of my top questions for people who full-time RV. Keep up the great work! Go Navy!
@todayissomeday

His residency is not based on your address. It is based on where he joined the navy and his DL even if he hasn't been able to go back to renew.

We don't use the VA at all. I have PCP out in town and have used them since I retired in 2015. We do use Walgreens for prescriptions....they are everywhere.

Very good video... If I may ask, then about what is your monthly payout on average? I'm guessing somewhere in the $2K/Mo or so
@todayissomeday

Initially, it was higher than that due to fuel cost and a stint at Disney. But now it is $1-$2 depending on how often we boondock and how much we drive.

I am recently divorced after 20 years and got the house in the settlement. After I get the house in my name, I will hang onto it for 6 months then sell it and buy my RV. I will have $1475 a month i social security. I took it early so I could go RVing. I know I'm a little old to get started in this but I have only been out of the Houston area 3 times in 20 years and want to see some of the country. I have family in Colorado and Missouri and thought it would be nice to just travel on a budget. I will be paying cash for my RV from the money I make off the house so my expenses will be minimal. I'm only buying a small trailer to live out of until I am able to save enough money for something bigger or to see if the smaller one suits me better. I have gotten a lot of great information from watching your videos so thanks for doing them! Maybe I'll see you guys on the road sometime.

Your RV has washer/dryer. With being on the road for a while, is having them (washer/dryer)in your rig/coach worth it? or would it be better to not have them and use the space for storage and go to a laundry mat? I recently watched the KYD video on laundry mat and got to thinking about it?
@todayissomeday
4 жыл бұрын
For us it is worth it! But we have plenty of storage on board. I do occasionally use the laundromat when we boondock for extended periods and for blankets and such. But I like being able to toss in a load of laundry whenever I want without having to find quarters.

Im a new commercial diver chasing work with that said i dont know where i am going (state) but willing to travel. Im going to purchase a fleetwood tiago 25g soon. My intent is to live offroad and save money while be mobile and ready to pick up work. When i pick up a contract off shore i intend to place the rv in storage. Im trying to avoid establishing a lease too then terminate a lease do to fluidity of work. My best guess is that rv fulltime might be the answer. Thank you for your service from a vet himself.

I've been watching your videos as well as others. I have been thinking of the RV life, not sure yet as to weekending or full time as of yet and thinking of renting a couple of RVs to see how it goes. Even so, you mentioned selling the house but I was thinking if I went lifetime I would rent my home for steady monthly income or sign it up for an airbnb. Do you think that would be possible?

Hey Stacy and Phil, I found your channel a few weeks ago and really enjoy it. Today started looking back at some of your earlier videos and found this one and it is perfect for where we are in our full time RV journey. We are DR fans as well and completed step 2 this July and are on step 3 now. Our plan is to retire in 2.5 years and sell the house and by a Class A (with Cash of course). We have started slowly purging and it is overwhelming. Thanks for the great information and look forward to seeing more! Scott

We bought an motor home planning to take long trips of 2-3 months at a time but before we had a chance to do so we are needed to care for our grandson everyday after school. How would others handle this? He has special needs so an alternative is not a simple solution. I guess we just sit tight and enjoy this time with him.

Do you still see and read comments from old videos? I've begun purging, but just barely. We've lived here for 30 years, same size house as yours was. So Much Stuff, that I still love. and probably because I like the things I'd like to get some money for giving it up. And a lot of the things are still quite nice. Did you do garage sales? Were they worth the time and effort? I don't want my clothing to end up on a boat to Africa and now even Africa may not want our old clothes. And I don't want it in the dump either. I'd love ideas for the actual purging please. And Thank You!

We try to reply to all comments in a timely manner. We did do garage sales, that's where 95% of our stuff sold. The rest we donated to charities. We started room by room and the purge went rather smooth that way.

@@isnoo1 But you only have to register in one state. When RVers choose their home of record for full time this is something that may affect which state they choose.
