Wonderfully evocative! Beautiful old honky tonk piano which could be heard in pubs and venues anywhere from Shepherds Bush to Canning Town and Kennington to Camden at any time from the mid 19th century through to the late 1970s / early 80s. It’s not like that anymore sadly. 🥲

@chrisevans5259
6 жыл бұрын
Craig Brown totally agree, steptoe & Son was a great comedy that bristled with great humor and great acting, brilliantly written and its a timeless classic that we don't see anymore, but the 60s and 70s was the golden age of great comedies like, Porridge, Dads Army, Rising Damp, On the Buses, Open all Hours, The likely Lads, Are you Being served, The Good life, the list is endless, it really was a vintage time for comedy, and don't forget Le's Dawson Morecambe & Wise and The Two Ronnie's were also regular on the telly, telly today is so poo compared to them golden days and I feel privileged to be growing up to such Legendary comedy

I prefer the first film. Its claustrophobic darkness and melancholy reminds me of series 1 of the show where Harold is all encompassingly trapped by his father and he lacks the wherewithal to escape. The second film, on the other hand, while funny, is more broad and reminiscent of the lighter pantomine stylings of series 7 and 8.
