1:56 "did he commit any war crimes" The year was 2020. Me and the chef battalion were about to land on the shores of rigatoni. Our Asiago graters were clutched tight against our chests. I took one final look at my tomato shaped locket with a picture of my sweet love inside; a finely diced red onion that I garnished last week's pasta with. As our gourmet traveling Italian cuisine boat pulled onto the salty edge of rigatoni I took one final deep sniff of the aromatic flavors of the air before charging. Shouts could be heard across the landscape, "I ordered that five minutes ago!" And, "where's my extra cheese? I wanted extra cheese!" My heart grew heavy (from the extra cholesterol) as I began cutting into the prepped dishes on the order up window. There was sauce everywhere... oh, the sauce. Some red with tomato, some white with cream and garlic. All are burned into my nightmares forever...

I can't laugh at those tik toks because the idea is hahaha he doesn't know what the word for this thing in English is. Like congratulations on knowing what "skyscraper" is in *your native language* I'm pretty sure the husband knows the word in *his* native language. Not to mention, at least the husband speaks *some* English, while I'm willing to bet the wife doesn't speak one word of Italian. Btw, in my native language, there isn't a word for "toes"; they're literally called "fingers of the foot". And I'm pretty sure that's what they're called in italian as well, hence the husband's confusion.
@soggycerealz
Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah they are called fingers of the foot in italian which is how they came on the idea of making that tiktok in the first place but it's so clearly staged with his girlfriend making him look dumb in every tiktok he's in and I just think that shows a lack of respect towards him ...
@VerticalSpectacle

@@soggycerealz I think there's some truth to the tik toks: the husband doesn't seem fluent in English, so he probably frequently makes mistakes. But I concur, this does show a lack of respect.
@soggycerealz
Жыл бұрын
@@VerticalSpectacle that is true, but I noticed that in some of the tiktoks (maybe I should've shown them) his accent and fluedity is still far from a native speaker yet his vocabulary is very advanced. I should've given more context maybe since I don't want to come off as if I were bullying him for not knowing specific English terms.
@VerticalSpectacle

@@soggycerealz Tbh I can see the point you made in the video to some extent: what are the chances of someone catching their partner misusing a word + for the first time while recording a tik tok video + so often they make an entire channel off of that content? So, logically, there's exaggeration. It's just like I said earlier I do believe there's some truth as well, and the fact that there's an entire channel dedicated to husband's gaffes (regardless of what's true or exaggerated) paints him in the minds of other people as an idiot.

Im from Denmark,i have been to italy many times, and with a bit of luck im are going to naples again this easter, it will be my sons first time in italy, I have to say that i do recognize some of the steaeotypes a bit,but only for nice things,in my opinion the italians do speak loud while using their arms a lot,but they are very friendly and open people,even in the big citys,that is a bit unique , its never hard to find somebody to ask when you need help,even if they cant help you,they will try to find someone who can,and they will start a conversation,they ask where you are from,tell you something they know about denmark,often mention some footballplayer,,ask if you have been here before,even if you just asked them for directions,it might be some variation of polite bs like americans who say how are you and dont expect you to answer,but is doesnt seems that way. When i was i kid my hair was completly white and when we went to italy the old grandmas in the small villages thought i was cute,so they showered me with hugs and gave ice cream i didnt ask for,,one came out of her small shop ,took my hand and pulled me in front of the line to give me free pancakes,I didnt understand a word besides the bella bambina that i learned ,but i had no doubt they were just trying to be nice to me. You would never see danes doing things like that,no matter how adorable we might think a child is, it would just not be an option we would think of. Im 47,italy was the first foreign country i traveled to, dont know if those who are old now would do that to anybody today, this was in the 80s,but i hope some will,i like the thought of these sweet old ladies in italy still teaching children how lucky they are to go meet other people,it was an incredible way for me to be introduced to traveling.
