why can't modern country sound like this? no bullshit poppy choruses, no slick production, no generic melodies.

I really don't understand why Steve isn't a mega star. He has a ton of great songs, but you rarely ever hear them played. It seems the only places to hear Steve Early are Red, White & Booze or Outlaw Country on Serius XM.

Love this song, but as a kid who grew up around Taneytown, and went to college at Gettysburg...it's pronounced 'Taw-knee-town' not 'Tay-knee-town'. An amazing song and hits hard, just the same.

***** before neil's canadian ass got all patriotic, he made "tonight's the night","time fades away" and "zuma". for neil's catalog thats probly the right chron. you might find something there...of course, many musicians have a hard time sticking with gritty "true life" songs and songs about cut-off-yer pecker skit, but money mortgages wives and chidren do that to most men.
