I was born in 1961 and grew up in a semi-rural area just outside Baton Rouge La. Both my parents were school teachers. I've only known indoor plumbing and running water and I'm older than Shannon by 6 years and 5 years younger than Steve.

I know him and his family. Look up Glenville, GA (it’s where he’s from). He didn’t mention college. He’s saying using a shower or a toilet inside of someone’s house until 1988. It’s 2023 and in the part of Georgia that we’re from, I literally know people who still have outhouses. He’s definitely not lying.

Wellllllll, many times urban blk dwellers still carry the southern twang from their forebearers. I've seen it especially in L.A. Most of those people were historically a generation or two removed from east Texas and Louisiana, and they were as country as all get-out. They brought their speech, food and religion to Calif with them too. The Calif Born offspring were more citified IN SOME CASES but not always. As the old saying goes: COUNTRY COME TO TOWN--like Steve Harvey. Lol
