During my first assignment as a priest, I was called to a local convalescent hospital to anoint an elderly woman. I will never forget the serene disposition of this woman as I anointed her. Her face shined with a beauty that I can’t explain. After returning to the parish, I was informed that the woman was Steve Jobs’ mother. However, that fact paled in comparison to the beautiful encounter with her in the final moments of her life in that room. I can’t verify that this was indeed his mother, but the source was trustworthy. If indeed this was his mother, I can see where his desire to encounter the transcendent came from.

Then why he expressed so many narcissistic traits, didn't mind Chinese workers entering eternity at young age by jumping from factory buildings? Please, kindly learn what narcissism is about because you will meet many such people. They need different strategy, boundaries, tough love. Simple kindness won't help, only will encourage them. They prey on kind, good, helpful people like Jobs on Wozniack. Please for one religious old narcissistic woman I know, and her adopted daughter. She is talking bad about her daughter, uses her to regulate her own emotions, daily makes her miserable. Look up: Sam Vaknin & H.G. Tudor - both are self aware narcissists, second curses a bit but gives great analysis. Fr Dave Nix , Dr. Ramani, Dr. Abdul Saad, Dr. Les Carter, Michelle Lee Nieves are explaining it very well. Thank you for being priest, sharing this uplifting experience. It's nice to see people approaching death like St. Stanislav Kostka. God bless you Father. Important: person expressing narcissistic behaviour may be: narcissist, narcissistic or a victim or narcissistic abuse. Only last one can change her ways. There are therapies for people with NPD to make them feel better in this world, less afraid. NPD is not recognized as mental disease. @@gabiafterhours Whom you call 'haters'? Why to assume that people with different opinion, POV would be 'haters'? I have 50+ years experience with narcissists, study this subject since 7 years, when I first time learned about them. The best day of my life was when I listened to 'The UGLY Truth About Gaslighting, Brainwashing & Mind-Control. A Dysfunctional Family Story' @Ross Rosenberg and realized my parents are narcissistic. This explained me all my sad, unhappy life. I love my narcs dearly but can't live with them. I'm still learning how to deal with them. It's hurtful to me to see you praise people with narcissistic behaviours which are now of epidemic proportions. You help them hide by creating video like that. That's my 'opinion'. Leftists use term 'haters' to belittle their opponents. We do not have to use it. There's lack of knowledge and high social tolerance for narcissistic behaviours because we're used to being bullied, abused, and self confidence, charisma are seen as positive traits. Toxic people do same things as normal people, to spot a narcissist one needs to observe first a pattern of negative behaviours typical for this personality type: presenting himself as a victim, gaslighting, manipulations, feeling of grandiosity, charisma, triangulation, gossiping, smear campaign, lying even in unimportant matters, magical thinking, love bombing, mirroring (like Zelig) etc. Also it could be laughing during funerals, over punctuality - I know a narc doing it. Most amazing mechanism is for me 'narcissistic projection' when they accuse their victim of what they do to them. When narc is telling you: 'you lie' he confesses he's been lying to you. That's because he is avoiding any criticism. He is aware something wrong is done but knowledge that he is doing it somehow bypasses his brain. And they live in constant fear. They blame others, Martin Luther blamed even God for his sins. I was shocked watching 'Martin Luther and Protestant Revolution' by dir. Grzegorz Braun (available online on demand: luter . braunmovies . com). Please, contact him. He will be happy to know you, you are likeminded. He will open many doors for you if you want to film in Poland. Another important documentary of him is: 'Eugenics. In the Name of Progress'. Martin Luther seems was a narcissist or narcissistic. Somehow Protestantism (and communism) suit narcissistic types. They will be like Luther belittling, insulting, ridiculing Catholics. Instead of talking about facts they will play with emotions. Confronted with truth may use 'word salad' or aggression. There's a lot to it. They are going for jobs when they can get attention, respect even when they fail: priests, doctors, lawyers, politicians, corporations. MacCarrick who thrown himself to the knees of St. JPII (playing victim) could be a narcissist. He had bad childhood (Luther too). They are created in the childhood when child needs aren't met: food, shelter, security, care, love, attention, validation, etc. It can happen though trauma, abuse, during war. Also when parents have different personality and do not understand their child, are working two jobs as necessity or to give child money, things instead of time, love. So they come from trauma or spoiling. We used to think trauma is a rare, unique or huge experience but we realized they're quite common. Only once I herd a sermon when Father Augustyn Pelanowski touched this subject but still wrongly called it 'unhealthy love'. He is recognized as a prophet in Poland. A mother drag to him a troublesome son (with narc behaviours) who expected to be transformed by miracle without lifting a finger to correct his ways. I can easily imagine a narc setting against you all your friends, family, coworkers, taking over your ministry, kicking you out and destroying it. They prey on kind helpful people. It's easier to fool people then make them understand they've been fooled. I know one religious narcissist plying a role of pious woman but abusing her adopted daughter. It breaks my heart. Luckily, the daughter is a grown up woman and finally knows what she's dealing with. Knowledge makes it easier. You would help many people by researching this subject and teaching them. Hosea 4,6 God bless you

Life has made it difficult for me to pursue my vocation since I take care of my younger sister who is not well and I want to make sure my mum has better living conditions and not live in a leaky and mould infested house. David Goggins is a secular person who inspired me to keep pushing and to never give up. In fact at one point he himself wanted to be a priest! Because of him I am trying really hard to study and save so that I can help my family and eventually go to become a monk on Papa Stronsay. I pray for his conversion as I think he is a master of mortification and would make a great saint if he had the right guidance. People like Steve Jobs and David Goggins help me realise how reading the lives of the saints can be a real inspiration to us in the spiritual life.

...... rather than remaining in the broken Church full of people who are all sinners, from top to bottom and working to change Rather than enduring the trials and tribulations that the current Catholic Church suffers from even from their own leaders, those Catholics "Rapture" themselves...... with the idea that they are the elect and the people who are left behind in the church are the ones who are forced to face the tribulation Keeping in mind that left behind and the Rapture are heresy..... The analogy remains perfect.

Wow! Wow, wow, wow. Not gonna lie. That last part made me tear up: the compilation of saints, Mother Angelica, & Venerable Sheen. Great work Gabriel. So yeah, I myself am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the church & the man in white at the Vatican . I myself had parted ways at the cathedral where I used to teach at. but you are right with everything you said, we must continue to persevere to transcend ourselves to holiness every day.

Please do not forget about hundreds, thousands Catholics who follow what the Church teaches. Lets pray for current and future pope. As Italians say: 'fat pope, thin pope, good pope, bad pope'. Only half of Popes were canonized. God bless your kind heart

I used his speech this summer in a class I taught...Some great lines...You can't connect the dots going forward only looking back. Think about that in our lives- pretty profound.

This reminds me of my desire to teach RCIA. We need more passionate converts. Like Keith Nester. He's a great example of a passionate convert.

Strange things in my family... People who do not practice their Catholic faith, and have never heard of St. Maximilian Kolbe are naming their kids Max. We have Maximino, Máximo, and Max Andrew.
