As a South Sudanese, I found this game incredibly fun to watch. Props to the South Sudanese team for good movement, good passing and solid defense, but I'll happily admit that we didn't face a US team at its full potential. There was hardly any help on defense whenever Thor or Jones drove to the basket, they were giving South Sudan too much space for open threes, and on offense they were lethargic and mostly stuck playing on the outside in the first half, despite having LeBron, Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis' physicality. All in all it is an indictment of the US team.

You earned yourself a sub for this. After all the rhetoric about the 1992 Dream Team having weaker competition, I discovered that Lithuania in 1992, was chock-full of players who would have been in the NBA if they had been allowed to go by their own government. And Team USA beat them by 50. And that Team USA, the original Dream Team, would have annihilated South Sudan without trying - even in an exhibition. NBA players today look like their playing smoother and better basketball, at times, but it's always due to weak defense. And their weak defense just made South Sudan look good. And after the disaster that was the Warriors last season, I'm realizing that Steve Kerr sucks. The only reason he ever looked good is because Mark Jackson was even worse. Anybody replacing Mark Jackson in 2014-15 and getting the Warriors to move a little more -- anybody -- would have then looked amazing thanks to Steph, Draymond, and Klay. Kerr is very bad. I mean Kerr wasn't even coach during the best stretch of the 2015-16 season. It was Luke Walton, who wasn't even good. If Kerr wasn't necessary for their 22 game win streak that set up the 73 win season, then Kerr simply wasn't necessary. As he said, the lineup of death began when a video analysis person said that the Warriors should play small in the 2015 finals. Without that video analysis guy, there are no Warriors rings, thanks to Kerr's bad coaching. Maybe the Warriors deserve more credit during the years after KD joined, than I realized...

Chuck Daly, who was the head coach of the original Dream Team during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, did use a similar tactic. In one notable instance, he orchestrated a practice game where the Dream Team played against a group of college all-stars. The college players actually beat the Dream Team in that scrimmage. Daly reportedly did this to help his team stay humble and realize they couldn't take their competition lightly. He wanted to instill a sense of urgency and competitive spirit in his team, despite their overwhelming talent. The strategy paid off, as the Dream Team went on to dominate the Olympics and win the gold medal. Kerr is doing the same thing.

Yea I mean Phil Jackson was a horrible coach he just had Michael Jordan and Kobe and Shaq…popavich can’t coach either he only won bc of Tim Duncan…Kerr unlocked Steph’s offense and allowed him to become one of the most prolific scorers of all time and the most efficient guard in nba history…Kerrs offensive schemes allowed curry to do that and you don’t have the highest basketball iq if you can’t see that..Kerr is coaching this team bc he’s currently the best coach in the world…acting like this is all on him is comical.
