Great teaching again. It occurs to me that we need to pray for those in Leadership in the Church. We are all so weak and satan tempts us all, and I now look back over my own life and know that if I could live it again with the wisdom the years have given to me, it would look VERY different. Unfortunately we can't go back, and we see those thoughts, deeds, actions that put a blot on our lives. Maybe God doesn't want us to forget them this side of Heaven, because all too often we learn a big lesson through the times we let God down. Often it hurt others too. Oh how I thank our dear Lord Jesus for the cross. I've needed to return too many times, and never once has He turned me away. In Heaven He wipes the slate clean in that moment, so I asked Him in prayer, why my sins still haunt me and I SO wish I'd lived better when temptation came through the enemy. The Lord told me that He wants us to remember this side of Heaven, because the remembrance and abhorrence of them are what helps us to walk on ensuring we don't fall into that same pit again. I thank Him continually for His mercy and grace so freely given to every repentant sinner. And I realize I can't point the finger at others because three point back to me. My own sins may be different to theirs, but all sin is wrong in the sight of Almighty God, but He never condemns - In His love He convicts, and gives us the choice over whether to repent or ignore Him and run the risk of separation for all eternity.

I love that verse about the woman caught in adultery. I weep as I hear our dear Lord's response. And then I remember the criminal on the cross beside Him as He was dying, and I see myself kneeling and knowing I deserve to be on that cross in His place - but in His immense love for me, for every sinner who repents, we shall one day hear the same words He spoke to that criminal who admitted He deserved death, but "this Man has never done anything wrong" and our dear Saviour spoke those precious words, "Today you will be with me in Paradise." Wow! What a Saviour. Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were an offering far too small. Love SO amazing SO divine, deserves my soul, my life, my all." Amen THANK YOU JESUS.

The woman caught in adultery was not a believer. This example should not be used when talking about believers. I also think changing biblical language and using terms like “moral failure” and “inappropriate relationship” reduces the magnitude of SIN. We should call a spade a spade. Disclaimer: this is a general opinion nothing personal. Kind regards.

Thank you for your wisdom regarding the hurt those feel who were taught core doctrines by Steve Lawson. He, more than anyone else in the many years that I have been born again, has influenced my theology and Christian life. His series on the attributes of God exposed how I had “squeezed” God into God is love, which He is, and shortsighted myself to His other attributes, such as wrath, justice, judgment, and vengeance. His teaching on the Trinitarian Jesus, the resurrected Jesus, showed how I had also locked Him into the Godman Jesus of the gospels, ignoring the resurrected Jesus who threatened churches in Revelation with serious consequences if they didn’t repent. It showed me that the Trinitarian Jesus, God the Son, is demanding when it comes to sin in the church - and in my life. Stop sinning! Steve’s teachings unmasked the sentimentalist Jesus I had grown accustomed to who is soft on sin, the Jesus of most of the American church and in my life: not the “real” Jesus. God used Steve to instill in me that Jesus “demands” me to live a holy life, because the new birth brought my dead will in Adam to life in Christ, equipping me to be obedient and engage in the mortification of the flesh. I believe when saved you are saved forever. But Jesus is also my Judge, and of all born-again believers. He died so He will see the agony of His soul and be satisfied (Isaiah 53: 11); all born-again believers are the agony of His soul. And I want Him to be fully satisfied with me because I took sin seriously beyond new birth to live a holy life. God used Steve Lawson to teach me it and to move forward to where I am today - cultivating the knowledge of the Word to keep moving forward until I reach heaven. Never once did I think of him as a celebrity preacher, nor on a pedestal - only as a man who rightly divided the Word of God.

If all of the faithful men whom I trust, tomorrow became corrupt like the rust, I still have a glorious Lord on the throne, Whose crown shall not slip, and Who’ll me not disown. If all of the pastors though faithful for years, turned atheist after, and brought me to tears, tis Jesus I’m following my anchor unmov’ed, He’ll keep me from wallowing, He’ll keep my heart sooth’ed. I came not to men when He drew me nigh, for they did not spend their blood there and die, I seek not one thing more than eternal life, these words only spring, from the fountain of Christ. Herein lies my hope tis what stays my gate, though all men elope or become apostate, Lord I’ll not dissuade mine eyes are on Thee, foundations are laid sins cast in the sea. My hope’s not in man nor pastors who preach, that ground would be sand as found on the beach, on Jesus alone, I find my foundation, The Rock! not a stone, My Rock, and Salvation. Christ-ward mine eyes, fixed only on He, small faith is what tries, t'ward a-postasy. The world will never judge us righteously for without God they cannot see their own hypocrisy therefore we should not be looking for the approval of the world. As it is written, woe unto you when all men speak well of you for so did our ancestors do as much to the false prophets. The question is, how is one who is supposed to be born of God (perfected in Jesus Christ) found in a position of leading others but not by the Spirit? What did the elders miss? You can't be born of God and carrying on sin like this for 5 years and not be destroyed by God for doing it. By our own teaching, if the Spirit of God is in the Temple, the man that defiles the Temple God Himself will chasten him with the rod of men. Jesus was not kidding when he said if your eye sins against you tear it out for its better to enter into Life blind than to enter in and be thrown into hellfire. Where was the fear of God in all of this?

@@drdavidmackerethI’m not trying to be disrespectful. My apologies. I’m so tired of Christian male leadership trying in anyway possible to “soften” the adultery, abuse of power etc of these high profile pastors. I would suggest Ephesians 5:11..Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead expose them. Anyway, I must say you are the first I have listened to whom does appear genuinely grieved by Steve Lawson’s actions vs just excuses. Thank you for that.

Can I add one more thing, politely? I honestly don’t think most Christian men understand the depth of hurt and betrayal a wife experiences with a husband’s vow betrayal. When we go to Church leaders we are given all the Scriptures about being submissive, forgiving 7 times 7, the adulterous woman, men are visual..whatever..etc. Most of the time we have done those things for years! Very rarely is the man truly held accountable. Not to sound like a 70’s disco anthem, but enough is enough!

@@SusanKennedy-v4zOne never gets over the betrayal although one can forgive. I agree with what you have written as well.

@@earlydawn8183 Yes, forgiveness is necessary. A gift given to the betrayer and the betrayed by Jesus. Thank you for the response and the respect.

It would be so nice for you to open your mouth and speak at a normal volume for those of all who would like to listen to you!

He was a lordship salvationist who attacked free grace and rejected the old nature which all saints have.
