The Heart & Soul of the Journey sound. Classy to have recognized all those who contributed, and extremely considerate and decent of him to acknowledge the efforts of Arnel Pineda for keeping Journey music alive and in front of the fans. While I am in the camp that feels it isn't Journey without Steve, it's because I was there when this came together, went to the Infinity and Evolution concert tours, and that's how I will always remember them. How amazing it was to grow up listening to the rock of the 70s. Unparalleled time for musical creativity.

Rick Park , Yeah, Arnel keeping Journey alive and everytime a song is played on the radio, puts money in Steve's pocket along with album sales. Research shows that since Arnel, Steve's and the rest of Journey's paycheck has had a substantial bump. Thank you Arnel for the bump and again. thank you Steve for recognizing and giving tribute to all involved... I respect you for that Steve... Neal, you are the keeper of the flame, and it was you that found Arnel.... Neal is the man!

+JacksBlack Journey hired Arnel only because he sounds so much like Steve, because that's his gift. He's great at copying voices. I bet he can sound like Bowie, Prince and George Michael, too. That's a great gift, so I do appreciate that he chose to sound like Steve Perry and is helping to keep Journey music alive by helping introduce it to the current generation. Let's not forget, though, that the unforgettable music itself (many of which Steve co-wrote) and the amazing musicianship of the band have a lot to do with that, too, as they show with every live performance. Those old guys still play like young guys. They sound great!

Not to me...he's merely kareoke, that the band found here on KZitem, 10 years ago or so. After the other two or three didn't work out, they needed someone to keep the money train rolling...so they picked him! I don't think he even had to audition. Back in the day, most people had to audition to get into bands, to prove their chops. I guess standards have changed.

Hi Jonathan, just wanted to thank you for putting this video out for the Journey fans to see. In my opinion Steve didn't even have to come to the ceremony. But, he did and we should be happy to see him, and listen to his thank you, to all. As he has mentioned, he has moved on with his life, and Journey is part of his past. I guess I don't understand why people expected Steve to perform. Just remember his past was an amazing twenty years of someone who made Journey, Journey. The best "VOICE" ever hands down. He has a talent that compares to no other. Let's look to the future positively and hope he puts out his new album soon. Thx again Jonathan for putting this together for everyone that are fans of the past Journey band.

Hey Diane...thank YOU. I really am blown away that so many people are finding my clips and enjoying them and leaving comments like you. I think Steve MIGHT have sung a little if he wasn't so blown over by the emotional power of the night, being on that stage. When he came out and greeted the crowd, for that one moment, "The Voice" WAS right there again...he was total frontman/rockstar/showman like the heyday of years gone by. Steve will always be THE voice of Journey, as much as I do like Arnel, and I also liked Steve Augeri...but even in the words of those who replaced him, Steve Perry = Journey. Always. If you saw the backstage pics of Arnel meeting Steve before they went onstage, you'll see a truly humbled and elated guy who would still be struggling to SURVIVE in the Philippines, singing Journey tunes in a club for pennies, if it wasn't for Steve Perry. I can't wait to hear his new album, and now that we all know he has it in the can, I hope he drops it SOON. I don't care what kind of music he's singing in front of, I just want hear The Voice again. Cheers, Diane!!

Thanks again for posting ... NEVER stop believin 😀😀😀
@Cabojonny5150

dowens3 ...I may say that I hate YOU for getting the chance to see the band PERFORM in person...I realize that for many, Journey isn't Journey without this band member or that one, and in some instances I'd probably have to agree, in large part because Steve SMITH's drumming on the ESCAPE album is why I became a drummer myself...so if I saw them on the RoR tour, I'd have been feeling awesome, but also a bit empty, if you can understand that. Either way...I do think that REGARDLESS of who is in front at the moment, the LEGACY of the band is intact and amazing, and like Steve said that night, it's the FANS who have kept them alive...if it wasn't for folks like us, the guys would likely still be making music, but who knows if it'd be called JOURNEY? ALWAYS believe ;-) Thanks for your comments!

True that Diane. A long time ago I thought that the really high note during Neal's solo on Wheel in the Sky was an instrumental effect. But he showcases that on a lot of Infinity's tracks, particularly on Something to Hide and Winds of March. I think that one of Journey's greatest attributes was the union of Steve's voice and Neal's guitar. Steve could hit that piercing angelic range the way a guitar could and Neal's playing style was so soulful and expressive that his guitar sounded like a singing voice. They complemented each other beautifully and that was never displayed better than it was on Infinity. I have to go listen to it now lol.

OMG. To have Steve there with the rest of band is amazing. He's looking good too. This is a majestical moment to have the original Escape era line up in one evening. I've watched this video several times now. absolute Magic.

Leading up to the induction ceremony there was a lot of talk about the division between Steve and the rest of the band. Steve put it all to rest with his speech - total class from a class act.

Journey is my favorite band...Steve is my all time favorite singer and he made Journey the success they were! He touched our hearts with his soulful voice, he gave his all...at every concert ...it came through him to the crowd...he was like magic. A voice that was so incredible and loaded with emotion and feeling he poured into every song. I love the way he gave all of us who saw him back in the day the nods to those concerts...the you sure look good tonight! He always said that...the hand behind his ear, the hand over his eyes...I can still see those gestures...great, talented, humble man...blessing to Journey and esp. Steve! I will always love you and your beautiful gift of song!

Thank you to everyone who has been watching the video(s), and it seems like this Steve Perry clip is the one that is getting the most feedback. I respect everyone's opinions as to why he didn't sing, why Ariel didn't get indicated (guidelines) or whatever else. Please do me the favor of keeping your comments CIVIL and RESPECTFUL of other people. I posted this because of the love that is OBVIOUSLY here for Steve and the band...so let's continue that, ok? I have never had a video with this many views, and I again thank you for watching... ~ Jonathan

Jonathan Bassuk thank you for posting this. I am going to boast and brag and say I was there and there is no shame in my game to say that I nearly blew my voice out. This is a congratulatory post and I will keep your request in mind myself when making comments. Sorry.

Hi Davida...thanks for your kind words. I'm with you in the boasting and bragging...I lost my voice a bit as well, and I loved that it happened. I'm glad that with (no doubt) so many others posting the same thing from the show, as Steve's speech was TRULY a highlight, that so many are still coming by to look at my video. I'm glad I was able to share it with everyone. Thanks again for the props, and I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one with no vice afterwards!! LOL!

I haven't seen any post's that bash Arnel Pineda at all, what are you talking about ?
@Cabojonny5150

There were a few here and there that weren't very kind...and for the most part I've left them up because people are entitle to their opinions...a couple...literally maybe two or three...were offensive and I deleted them. Arnel has been very well-received and has now been in the band longer than Steve ever was...he's a grateful, humble guy, and as much love as we all have for Steve, all we can do is wish him the best...I know he has a new album pretty much ready to drop, and hopefully the wave of appreciation thst has been sent his way since the induction, will spur him to release it for the fans who have been patiently waiting to hear from him again... :)

Honey, he was a rock star in the 70's/80's, sex drugs and rock & roll was everyone's motto. BTW, Journey were staunch supporters of NORML. Steve Perry does look good for his age and it probably has a lot do with being retired for the past 20 years.

Missile Regardless. 20 years retirement is a good thing. But I don't know any rock star who abused drugs and alcohol and looks as good as he does. I think you will find it has to do more his strong values and clean living that has kept is looking great for almost 70!!!

Ingrid Larson He has probably lived a clean life since his departure from show business but while he was with the band, that's a whole other story.
