Blocker was amazing, and people forget he wasn’t just a brute. He had talent to.

Steve Roach "Blocker" was such a threat to the Kiwi's as he was hard, had great hands and skills. Dowling, Tunks and Roach best Aussie props of the 80's Roach was no 1 of those.

Depends what part of the 80s you talking about mid to late I'm thinking because Young Gerard Randall Brown were the best in the early 80s and even though Roach and co were feared Manly bought Kevin Ward in for 87 he pissed all over the Sydney forwards

I used to go down to Leichardt in the late 80s and watch Blocker, Sirro, Jack, Elias, Junior and co play - Laurie Nichols leading them out, while he threw uppercuts....what great times to watch rugby league they were and what an awesome side that was. Blocker was a hell of a front rower - tough and very skilled as a ball-player.

Looked forward to every week of NSWRL game during late 80’s to mid 90’s. Once Super-league made its presence known the heart of the game was injured to the core. To me Rugby League was sport only real men played.

Those players never won a premiership. They were great players, especially at Origin level. It was a tough era.

A skilful prop forward to watch, doesn't back down to anyone in the opposition. I loved to see him play and a hardman enforcer on the field 👌💯

Blocker and Les Davidson as props at Warrington. Coulda had Liberace at hooker and it still woulda been the toughest front row of all time.

Funny as, when I was a kid all the best players were garboes, they would do that so that they could stay fit for the weekend game.

Remember Ricky Stuart passing the ball to mail meninga after stepping through? Look back at the tape minutes before, blocker and Benny busted there backsides to get the bal back, people don’t see that effort, go check it out , never seen desperation to win like that
