I'm a retired ER trauma nurse. I think you are SO funny. Don't like the cursing too much. I've been passing your videos onto some of my former ER nurse friends. Laughter is the best medicine, esp. when dealing with the stress of an ER. Thank you for your videos.

But later I just came across one of your videos and I understood that you are actually teaching people about what to do during an emergancy, and you do it in a like funny way for teenagers and up. Now I love your videos and I am so worried that you are going to stop when covid is gone.

I've fainted once. My mother did the exact opposite of what you said to do. I fainted, standing up because I was busy and didn't have time to sit down, besides I get dizzy all the time and thought that's why I felt that way.. but anyways, I fainted, she picked me back up to my feet, and guess what. I FELL BACK DOWN AGAIN. WHAT A SURPRISE. No ambulance needed, my shoulder did get a little hurt but I woke up almost immediately. One second I'm dizzy, the next I'm on the ground with my shoulder hurting, my mother standing in front of me, and no memory of how I managed to get on the ground. Fun.

Yeah, I fainted shortly after waking once. Didn't have time to sit, just remember walking to the kitchen to ask my mom what she was cooking for breakfast and the next minute I was sitting on the floor looking up at her. She had me hang out there until my BP sorted itself back out tho

I really can't remember the very first video I saw but the one that made me subscribe was thinking that an unconscious person in the ER doesn't hear what's going on. So Steve does a beautiful rendition of Jingle Bells while farting the entire song. Of course the patient comes to and Steve slinks out of the room. That did it, I subscribed and never miss a day of his insanity.

My county (San Mateo in California) has a Medi-Cal Uber for people with medi-cal/medi-caid insurance. It’s literally Uber drivers who contract with their call center company, American Logistics. You can get a ride anywhere medi-cal covers: doctors, dentists, pharmacy, therapists, rehabs, labs. It’s honestly a life saver for people who otherwise don’t have access to transportation and, I’m certain, helps keep costs and foot traffic down in the emergency room.

I never had a vasovagal syncope before - I've had blood draws, I've donated blood, etc. But when covid first came out and I was fairly sure I had it, they wanted to do a blood draw, since this was the "if you haven't traveled, you don't have it" phase's end, and it hadn't quite caught up to my area yet that it was IN the US. Anyway, I hadn't had any food or water all day. None. So, I don't advise that unless you wanna feel lowkey like you're dying as your vision blacks out and you hear the phlebotomist shout down the hall, "SHE'S GOING DOWN!" to get a nurse's help. I was already sitting, luckily. The nurse walked me across the street back to my work and told my coworkers I HAD to eat something lmaooo. And then the time doxycycline put me in anaphylaxis, I think? It was swelling my throat shut over the course of a few days. I noticed my throat felt tighter, but didn't think much of it until I nearly choked to death on a dumpling noodle that couldn't fit down my throat. I puked all over my floor trying to get that bitch out, but I did!

Years ago I went skiing with a friend and we didn’t realize how much the snow would reflect bright sunlight. Even though we both used sunblock on our faces, it wasn’t enough. Two days later both our entire faces were just one giant blister. After the skin peeled, we joked that it was like getting a chemical peel. But we learned our lesson and from then on we carried sunblock with us and made sure to reapply so it wouldn’t happen again.

I got a flu and I tripped over the leg of my standing mirror going back to bed from the bathroom. I was exhausted and weak and when I tripped I tried and failed to break my fall but thankfully I fell on my bed. I however fell hard enough on my hand I that I dislocated my thumb. I popped it back into place and went to bed, didn't sleep well because it hurt but at least I could wiggle it. It hurt for about 4 months and I still have some issues with it when my hand is cold but the pain is mostly gone now.

I have medical issues that cause me to have to go to the ER from time to time and they used to provide an Uber to get me home. My shoulder dislocated like crazy. They did surgery and fixed it. They said I had the best outcome he's seen.
@vandaway1
3 жыл бұрын
You're lucky. My knee cap dislocates any time it feels like taking off which I then have to shove it back into place... if it's even possible because sometimes my knee will be too swollen to shove it back in. I had a patellar realignment surgery and was finally doing better but then I had to see a workers comp doctor who thought it was a good idea to take my knee in one hand and my ankle in the other and torqued them in opposite directions... the motherfucker went and tore out half of what was screwed into my tibia... I legit had my knee taken apart, got some new dead person cartilage since I no longer had any, then putting everything back together properly and drilling 2 2" stainless steel screws into my tibia and that fucking idiot not only ruin a $250k plus surgery but he made it so I now need a knee replacement, well I needed it in 2017 when he tore it but workers comp kept saying "You're too young" try this blahblahbullshit (the equivalent being "oh you go shot? Here's a bandaid) I've spent the last 4 years fighting workers comp AND my orthopedic dr that I need help, especially since I started developing osteoarthritis before 27... so now the same dumb dumb doctor of mine say my new MRIs and I said "so what's next a partial knee replacement?" And he said "Well with that much osteoarthritis you might not have enough bone strength so it'll probably need a total replacement" so I told him that my pain management doctor recommended nerve block injections and this fucking idiot that KNOWS how jacked my knees are and that said I might need a total replacement because of how jacked my right knee is said "Yeah you should get the shots and maybe they'll help enough so you don't have to do the surgery".... excuse me but what the mother fucking fuck is wrong with that dude! He should have retired 20 years ago. So yeah today my kneecap is refusing to budge which is annoying but better that then having a freaking joy stick for a kneecap. Dislocations are a bitch but when they happen multiple times a day you start thinking that it's better to chop your leg off with a rusty spoon then deal with the searing, stabing and just plain hit by a Mack truck feeling... fun times! I'm glad your surgery went better than it could've been. I had my shoulder done years ago, tore a bunch of stuff, and it was my worse surgery to date... and I had half of home depot used on my knee! But yeah the pain was horrible and getting home and going to the bathroom to then realize "umm I can't use my left hand... how the heck am I going to pull my pants and underwear down with one hand?!?!" I did the whole left side, right side, left, right, etc until they were down enough... I never knew that I use my nondominant hand as much as I did! But yeah shoulder surgery hurts and that's from someone who's had 8 total and the shoulder is still the winner. I'm glad you're recovered and I wish you good health for life!
