I used vaping to quit after several failed attempts. I was beginning to have the first stage of copd after 20 years of smoking. I switched to vaping easily, began hating cigarettes and the smell of them within a week. After 6 months of vaping, my signs of copd went away. Then I lowered the milligrams of nicotine in the juice until I could quit vaping. Worked perfectly when I thought I could never quit.

That one on the firefighters reminded me of my father. If we had to wait for an ambulance my father may have not survived. We brought them thank you chocolates a week later.
@andynonymous6769

I wish we just had more ambulances though. So many firefighters hate doing anything other than firefighting and are forced to do EMS. They make bad providers. If we just had firefighters do firefighting and EMS workers do EMS, everyone would be happier and patients wouldn't have to deal with that. The IAFF would never let that happen though because that would mean they'd have to stop increasing staffing each year and accept that firefighting is becoming a less necessary (but never less important) job as time goes by

My uncle is a respiratory therapist and he went to the ER a lot as a kid for doing stupid things and used to be terrified of the hospital. The other day he was called into the ER to help with a COVID patient. He shoved a tube into someone’s nose and down their throat and ignored the screams and cries he heard as the patient tried to rip out the tubes. He stepped back and watched nurses pull out the tubes from the patient’s throat so they could ask the patient what the problem was. The patient just asked for some juice so he walked back and shoved the tube back down the guys throat. If you’re dying from not having enough oxygen in your body you’re not getting juice yet.
@italianredneckgirl

@HaileyB....I’m sorry, but this just isn’t true....no nurse is going to extubate a patient to “ask what’s wrong”. ...further, if your uncle was nasally intubating an alert patient, he needs to brush up on his modalities and training. Additionally.....ALL intubated patients are sedated before intubation unless they are obtunded and unconscious. I intubated, secure the tube, and place the patient on a ventilator once the placement of the ETT s confirmed. Patients are sedated and placed in soft wrist restraints after being placed on a vent. Simply stated, they don’t want juice. I am a retired cardiopulmonary practitioner with decades of experience, almost 30 years, under my belt. We have algorithms and protocols in place just so those types of issues you detailed just don’t occur

Once there was a fire in the town house down the road from ours, it was an old one with aespestos (I forget how to spell it) in the walls for insulation. A few years later the house beside our duplex (we had moved halfway across the province) burned down. Those are the only two instances in my 14 years of life where I saw fire trucks fighting fires. Other than that, to me they're basically EMTs in a different vehicle. Mom called 911 for me because I fell down the stairs (which happens often and I make it out unharmed but this time we actually thought I might have been actually hurt for some reason). Guess who came to save the day? Firefighters. Looking back, the reason we may have thought I was actually hurt was probably just a panic attack which also happens often for me. No, I am not invincible. The two times I broke a bone of some sort are actually funny stories. The first one was me breaking my ankle via slipping on a book, and the second one was me breaking the opposite leg via tripping on a chunk of ice. The second one sucked more because we found out it was broken the day my 6th grade class was to go to a good sledding hill and about 5-10 minutes before we were to leave, and it was a couple days before Christmas break. It healed within 1-2 weeks. Fun!

This person sounds like they are describing my life. I'm constantly injuring myself by accident. Once gave myself a black eye because I made a clothesline from a side bedroom out to the hallway across the hallway to a closet. Anyways I forgot that I put it there and was running down the hallway and literally clothelined myself. I always have so many bruises that I don't know where they come from that I've been asked several times by medical professionals if I'm ok and comfortable around my husband who although nearly twice my size and over 6'5 tall is the sweetest kindest and most protective man a woman could want. I just always end up with marks all over myself. Another time I somehow ended up in urgent care center 3 times in week which isn't normal because I don't like to go to anyplace I might get an IV or needle lol. This week if anyone was interested I had gotten my hand stuck in bbq, slipped on ice twice and hit my head or something. We have this great thing called a phone where you can actually call a legal health care professional who will advise you whether you should be calling 911,going to the ER, urgent care center or your doctors office,stay home etc and all of this is 24/7! Just think if everyone would call this number and get directed to the appropriate place how much time it would save etc. Sorry I'm a long commenter
