AIKIDO is not only a martial art ,it´s also a style of life.. it takes too many years of hard training and dedication to become a master..that´s why there is no competition in AIKIDO. It´s very easy to say things when you´re outside, practise AIKIDO once and you´ll change your point of view.

For those idiots who think aikido cant be applied to mma, notice the difference it made in fights such as Anderson Silva vs Belfort or Machida vs Couture. Even in sport or street fighting - timing, entering and exiting out of ranges are very important. There are alot of people who are stupid to think you cant apply any of this to MMA cage fighting. There are different things you can take from any martial arts to add to your arsenal. Everyone is different and you need a master to teach you.

@Quazzga You miss my point. Aikido is a very good self-defense form for those who understand the art. This video is not a great example for those who do not understand what is going on, and Seagal's movies certainly are not. These guys ARE selling the moves just like pro wrestlers do, no doubt, if they did not, they'd end up with a dislocated shoulder or other injury. I have personally studied Shotokan Karate, Aikido, Small Circle Jui-Jitsu, and Marine Corps Martial Arts Program...

hardfugoo1 Watch the first move here. Attacker- kick and punch, step slightly to side- taking him down. This works, I've done it, didn't want to, couldn't walk away. True training is one thing, but with enough training in a fight you are 100% more aggressive and targetting the soft spots- if you keep your cool, breath and control your adrenaline you can be efficient, your training shines through no matter what art.

For those of you who dont believe Aikido works, you should visit my Dojo i teach doormen most of them are twice my size and weight, i think they would disagree with you if you told them Aikido doesnt work, i must admit ive been hit before but everyone doing a martial art for real cant get it right all the time, its good conditioning anyway it makes you tougher and helps in real fights.

Yes... they move this way because they know eachother movements and are going along with them. Aikido as a martial art is great in principle and has it's good points... but it is just not a practical defense system as it is advertised. Sure there are pieces that can be used but you will never see someone pull off even the simplest of Aikido techniques in a real life attacker/defend scenario. Just a simple truth.

@Lonshivors Because people are untrained fighters they do not know how to hide their bodies from showing exactly what move they are going to do and where they are going to strike, you can break someones neck with aikido without even trying if they open the opportunity. It is very, very practical especially when fighting more than one opponent.

@Quazzga All those martial arts programs have merit and are good for self-defense when used by trained practitioners. Could Seagal "beat" a professional MMA fighter? Maybe, maybe not. (I assume when you say "mma fighter" you mean a professional competitor) But here is the key to that little statement: Seagal would be going against a PROFESSIONAL FIGHTER. Look through UFC, nearly every martial arts style has won and all have lost. But 'on the street' if you are proficient in ANY martial art...

@Quazzga You'll be successful against someone trying to attack you who is either untrained or not expecting a skilled counter-attack. Go to a local Aikido dojo is you really have an interest in the art, don't base your decision off a video of two trained Black Belts attacking each other in staged exhibition. Go to a dojo, learn what the art really means, what they really do, then make your decision. BTW,I watch WWE b/c it's entertaining, I also watch all other combat sports for the same reason.
